Excellent work. In this age of plastic and black it’s nice to see steel and walnut. Keep the dream alive! It’s a sham how shoddy work has become on production rifles.

I like that you clearance cut the right side of the front mount to show the full serial number. I've done much the same for two of my rifles, but when cutting the longitudinal cuts (fore / aft) I tended to cut both mounts at the same time. (didn't trust myself to have the exact same measurement without a CNC readout. Do you do your own Charcoal Case color for both mounts and rings?
@mnrcustomllc82533 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I don't do the color case work myself. Turnbull did the work on the rings in the video.

@@mnrcustomllc8253 I simply love watching your projects, it's so therapeutic. ^~^ Doug Turnbull does such lovely finish work. I've a 1934 first gen, Remington model 31 pump shotgun in .20 gauge I'm about to send off to Turnbull for restoration.

@@ditzydoo4378 Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy them. I couldn't agree more. They've always done excellent work for me and their turnaround time is fast. They just finished up a Mauser action for us in a week and it came out wonderful. I'm sure your model 31 will turn out exceptional.

Another MNR masterpiece! How many hours went into those bases and what was the material type? Awesome craftsmanship as always
@mnrcustomllc82533 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Material is 4140. It usually takes me about a day to make these. I messed up and didn't film the first part when the blocks are fit to the action and they're drilled and counterbored.

@@mnrcustomllc8253 Do you sell these for a small ring commercial Mauser (Husqvarna)?
@mnrcustomllc82533 жыл бұрын
@@henryware9440 Yes, I could make them for your Mauser. What works best is for you to send me the barreled action so I can machine the bases while they're attached. That way everything is perfectly in line with the bore.
@randy3577 Жыл бұрын
how do you make the Concave on the bottom to perfectly match the receiver? looks great
@mnrcustomllc8253 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! On the front bridge I use a boring bar. On the rear bridge I use a fixture that I use to machine the bottoms of quarter ribs. Essentially I create a mold of the rear bridge and then a pantograph fixture on the mill. I'll have to add that to the video sometime.

Beautiful. May I ask what cutting fluid/lubricant you are using on the dovetail cutter?
@mnrcustomllc82533 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's Vipers Venom cutting oil. It's high sulfur oil that I use for chamber reaming.

Good work! Can it be used in DWM m98? Can you do without the rifle and send them?
@mnrcustomllc82533 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, we can certainly make them for a m98. Though they could be made without the rifle you would lose one of the main benefits of custom bases, that being that they are 100% aligned to each and bore line. Given the nature of manufacturing, there's quite a variation between the bridges of actions of the same make.
