Don Moen put a video out a number of years ago about not overplaying. His demonstration was having each player over play which naturally sounded great. I didn't get why until I started leading worship that I understood it. Creativity and musicianship are fantastic gifts from God. But, when left to their own devices, draw attention away from the Lord and defeats the purpose of an atmosphere of worship. Tim Keller describes the issue at hand quite well, "Sin isn't only doing bad things; it's more fundamentally making good things into ultimate things."
