Lol you are surely mistaken, Sri Lanka was a lawless POS back then, remember 1983 Black July? 71' and the 89 JVP insurrections? The whole civil war? IPKF fighting in the north? R. Premadasa's and JR's state sponsored assassinations? And the entire economic crisis from around the mid 60's to early 80's where food was rationed? Not to say that Sri Lanka is a heaven nowadays but at least now death, destruction and famine isn't commonplace. Ceylon's real glory days were quite likely before the 11th Century, better wish for those time haha.
