Macniel Tunnel - Crown Express Car Wash, Jefferson Ave, St Louis MO (2024 Revisit)

I shot one of my early car wash videos at this location way back in 2013. That video was pretty bad and definitely didn't do the system justice. I decided now that 11 years have passed, it was time to go check up and see how the Crown Express wash is doing. There's been some changes in the last decade. The entry system was exactly the same, which surprised me a bit. Usually anything with a touchscreen has a short lifespan so nice to see them holding up. The setup of the facility is really unusual, so the entry system holds you back and controls the flow of cars all the way on the other side of the building from the actual tunnel. The tunnel itself is much darker than before, with the windows covered over in graphics advertising the wash. While I wasn't fond of that, there's a few new arches in the tunnel including a much nicer one right at the start. Overall--fantastic value for the prices they're charging.

$12 for a full size tunnel is a crazy bargain these days. Cheapest top wash for a tunnel that I've seen is $16 at buc ees while most tunnels I've seen are $25-$30 which is ridiculous.
