Hey guys, so it seems like I've already had a decent amount of interest in terms of creating merch. Right now, I'm still looking into the costs and all the technical details, but I think the first thing I need to consider is design. I won't make anything without getting community feedback first. I'll probably come up with a bunch of designs and include them in a standalone video or at the end of a video like this one. From there, people can vote on their favourites and I'll create the design people like the most. Are there any things you guys are looking for? One thing I thought could be cool (again might make the price crazy so we will see) is to allow players to put their personal tag on the back of the shirt/sweater. Anything else sound appealing?

A hoodie would be dope.

Because there seems to be an interest, I'm working on a video now that I'll release shortly to explain the options, since there's still a lot i dont know in terms of what people are comfortable with. I really value transparency, so I wanna communicate with you guys what our options are, and what kind of pros and cons there would be. My goal is to create products that people are proud to wear, that also support the channel, and I don't plan on releasing merch if I can't ensure that's the case.

MichaelRadar hey man not sure if you've heard of me but I have several design teams and always support smash. I can definitely get them to make you lots of designs with no cost upfront. Let me know, can message me on any social media at my username WhiteOutMashups

I'd love to get some merch! Your muted colors for macro/micro melee would look really good on a shirt

I agree. Your color choices are superb. However, I am too poor to buy things.

I feel the soft pastel colors of this channel would translate well to clothing. Fits into the concept of Scandinavian minimalism.

Love these vids. Great breakdown. I tend to know most of the info you post, but it’s all delivered in an AWESOME and succinct way, so it helps to have these as reminders! Plus I never know what little tidbits of extra info you’ll sneak in! Keep up the great work!

Having the humility to "re-learn" something you think you know is one of the most important aspects of improving! You can always learn more basics.
@jamiecal116 жыл бұрын
This was a good clear breakdown. You're building a nice repertoire of these types of videos, it's nice to have them in 1 place and cleanly produced. There's always tutorial vids on here but they're often, like, just an upload off someone's stream or from a while back or just poorly presented. Keep it up, man.

Once again, great content ! I think giving examples of when pro players use the techniques you're explaining is one of the best ways for beginners to improve, as most of us started liking the game from watching the pro scene. I really think you'll get recognition for your hard work so keep going !

Your professionalism in both your demeanor and content is always refreshing to see. People like you genuinely push the community forward. Also, Printful is what I go through to produce my own merchandise; you may want to check them out if you haven't already. The only drawback is there's a slight limit in terms of creative ability (colors, etc.), but you can upload your own designs and the product is excellent. Keep doing what you're doing, my man! :)
@Radarssbm6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Printful is decent then? I've looked at them and am trying to get an idea of what the quality would be. My biggest concern would definitely be creating something that's high quality and lasts. I don't want poeple buying a product that feels bad, or fades after a couple washes.
@Panccakes6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, in my experience, Printful's quality is very good. I've only done dad hats through them, but the material is great. They also give you a mock-up of what the threading will look like and the end product ends up being spot on.

If the merch is well designed I'd be interested. I feel like the key to good merch is that it looks good regardless of whether or not people know what it's about. Example: I got some free coffee blossom socks from some coffee company and I get compliments every time I wear them, but people never know the design is of coffee fruit/flowers until I tell them.

purplequeer hahaha I think I’m gonna try to design something that’s pretty low profile. One of my favourite “nerdy” shirts is this Spider-Man one www.uniqlo.com/sg/store/men-marvel-collection-short-sleeve-graphic-t-shirt-4037690002.html I bought it because it says “I like Spider-Man” not “I LIKE SPIDER-MAN” I generally like stuff that’s more subtle.

@michaelRadar would you be willing to do a video on knockback growth and staling?
@neilhaggerty18786 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure tomahawk is an empty hop grab. not just an empty hop.
@Radarssbm6 жыл бұрын
Maybe? Whenever I've heard it, people use it directly in place of empty hop, so "tomahawk up-tilt" etc. It's possible I got this wrong, but I think the terminology in general is kind of flawed lol. Empty-hop is way more clear.
@V1brationCanine6 жыл бұрын
I think it originally meant Empty Hop Grab and then people started using it to describe things other than grab. Either way I don't like it too much.

@nathanrandle75876 жыл бұрын
It totally depends on the design, if its got too much text, or its too busy no. But otherwise I'd buy your merch
@Radarssbm6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if I make merch I want it to look great.I really don't think I'd settle for anything less. I'm more just wondering if people would want to rock a Micro Melee logo or something. I feel like if you're gonna buy merch, it can't just look good, it also has to be something you wanna support. I work hard on the brand of this channel, but it's hard to tell if people would wanna rock that brand.
@_clavita6 жыл бұрын
but it really has to be cool like "wanna rest like i just did?" and a jiggly resting 3 ppl and then in the back "learn this and more in youtube/michaelradar" or we xXD

@markmalkowski36956 жыл бұрын
Does a well timed turn-around shine grab beat this?
@Radarssbm6 жыл бұрын
Mark Malkowski couple questions lol. First off, I showed four different ways to cross-up so you’ll need to be a bit more specific. Anyway, as far as techniques that don’t actually cause shield stun (so all the options besides aerials on shield and shine wavedash through turn around shine grab) pretty much any attack beats it since the whole point is that, like empty hops, they’re not actually safe but they trick your opponent because they’re waiting for you to do something else. I’d definitely recommend attacking beforehand in those cases, rather than trying to react with a shine out of shine turn around grab (which is pretty difficult to execute). As for the cross up aerial, depending on how they time it, you can still grab. If you went for a shine OoS turn around grab, the shine would connect because you even got the grab. If they time it late on shield though, you can’t no.

0scar1994 that’s cool! I know it’s not gonna be for everyone, but I wanted to gauge people’s interests to see if it’s even worth putting the effort into coming up with some designs...I think they’re gonna be fairly minimalistic too....i want them to say “I like smash and am kinda nerdy but I still know how to dress myself” looool
@hopy9216 жыл бұрын
As someone who plays both melee and traditional fighters, it makes me happy that you use 'empty jump' rather than 'tomahawk'. It's such a stupid non-descriptive term that should be replaced in the smash players vocabulary
@Radarssbm6 жыл бұрын
I think it's cool to preserve community language, but I also think it's something that just isn't accessible to new players. It doesn't describe what's happening in any way, so it's extremely difficult to learn what it means without someone telling you. Especially considering there's so much going on in Melee, trying to assess why something happened is asking more from an audience than I think we should. So yeah, I agree. LOL
@rakkatytam6 жыл бұрын
I was under the impression that a "tomahawk" was always followed up by a grab. That if you did not grab after your empty hop then it was not a tomahawk.
@hopy9216 жыл бұрын
I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure announcers say "tomahawk grab". Although even if your'e correct I still think 'empty hop' or 'empty hop grab' is a better term to use.
@rakkatytam6 жыл бұрын
The fact that we are having this conversation probably proves you right
@aaronarmstrong37656 жыл бұрын
"Empty land" would work better because of how much the aerial game varies in Melee compared to traditional fighters. Sometimes Hungrybox is in the air for ages, might get hit a couple times, throw out some aerials, waveland off a platform, whatever - but the tomahawk (or empty land) is the moment he lands next to the opponent without a hitbox to cover himself. I wouldn't necessarily call that an 'empty jump' considering all the actions that could happen in between the jump and the land.
