Using the Canon EF-M 28mm macro lens on the Canon M50 Mark ii on this really cold, very windy and dull day was an experience. I do need to practice this type of photography more and feel that I need to sort better lighting out than the two built in lights on this lens. See this lens used as a standard 28mm prime lens: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXe6i2ighKaShZYsi=6otFut3XHlZZlFTb

Hello David. Just catching up with this video because I have just bought this lens for macro photography, as well as its ordinary 'walkabout' uses as well. I have never really got into macro work before, so it is a first time for me. I have been very impressed with the results with it so far. I have been using it with manual focussing and manual exposures. Haven't tried doing it with indoor table top tripod work yet. I have a relative that is very much into macro work, and as you say, it is very much a practice, practice, practice type of photography. Your photos were really good though. I hadn't considered using the flash as well - that seems like something worth trying. I may get a flashgun and a diffuser at some point later. I find the 28mm focal length makes it a great walkabout lens and it is the only prime lens that Canon made for the EFM mount that has image stabilisation - so it opens up options for hand held video too. Thank you for sharing this. Take care, Paul

Thanks Dave for part two of the canon 28mm macro video. Found it very informative. and really enjoyed your results using the lens. It just asks the question why did canon go to the trouble with lights when taking pics in low light and the don't really do the job. Autumn and winter days are very dull so extra light is the key for macro, But i've learnt some useful things from you to date so please keep it up. Thank you.

After viewing your video (and a few more) about this lens, the Canon 28mm Macro decided to get it. I like macro photography, it takes you (along with your eyes and soul) to other world, a magnificent place not far from us but our eyes can’t see it as a capture. Made a little video (there will be others as well with this lens, please tell me if you like it kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnnIn5uDiNJnd80si=kYqKwPf41kcUYoN9 Best wishes and see you on your next vlog. Thank you

Hi to be honest I don’t use the 28mm macro lens very much. When I use it as a normal prime lens I do get sharp results and it seems no different to using other lenses apart from it’s not brilliant in low light situations. The main difference is you can get very close and focus, you just need the right light. Thanks for the sub, very kind regards David 📷👍 you’ve also gained a sub, I’ll start watching your channel
