After examining color and luster, let's look at two more characteristics of minerals, cleavage and hardness. How do minerals break apart? How well do they scratch certain surfaces? Let's get a closer look!

I've always found a direct correlation between cleavage and hardness.

As a bachelor’s degree holder in Earth and Planetary Sciences, I would (thus far) recommend this series for anyone about to or currently taking 1st semester mineralogy. Good stuff and succinct!

The title made me briefly think this was Mineralogy After Dark. But interesting information! I don’t know much about the topic, but it’s neat to learn.

I suppose after this video in the series we can now say Professor Dave has just begun to ... ahem ... scratch the surface on mineral knowledge.

hello dave, i'm sorry to comment out of context of the video but can you make a video about the documentary "what the health" on netflix? it states some very strange stuff that are supposedly backed by scientific studies like, " eating 1 egg is as bad for you as smoking five cigarettes", which makes me freak out everytime I am eating an egg. Googling doesn't help either as there are confusing results. i think it would make a great video because you have a lot of interest in debunking pseudoscience. If you don't want to target that documentary in particular, just tell me is an egg is really as bad as 5 cigarettes so that I can stop freaking out and make an informed decision.
