Today I went over to my moms house and we ended up talking about John and I's five year plan. This conversation brought up so many emotions for my mom . We fully accept Ella's Autism diagnosis but there are still moments where you think of all the things Ella will have to inevitably to differently because of Autism. We are still in the early years of our journey ...navigating feelings and future planning are very much a large part of our daily lives. Ella is beautiful and wonderfully made and we are 100% positive she will live her very best life !

This is real conversation that needs to be had. My parents and inlaws are in complete denial about the possibility of Addie's future. They are amazing grandparents, but they can not have this type of conversation.

You're mom.... 'Why doesn't our public school offer this to our kids' 💯💯 we shouldn't all feel like moving to different cities and leave our families so our babies can get an education that benefits them. I feel her 'its not fair' pain there

As a grandparent of an Autistic child, I have had to talk with my daughter in regards to the long term care, and what is best for her son. It is a conversation she didn't want to have and it took a while before she would engage. He is now 8 and has come so very far!!! My daughter is now accepting the talk of what his needs will be long term. There have been and will continue to be tears shed, all we can do is to do our best to support him today and in the future.

It warms my heart to see that there are parents around that do care and want the best for their kids/grandkids.

I can totally see your mom's opinion of it. You just worry about the future of your child/grandchild no matter what. When you care so deeply about someone, you hope and pray that that person doesn't go through any struggles or hardships which in reality we know it will happen but you still pray for the best

What a profoundly fabulous vlog. The honest and intimate relationship you have with your mother is worth so much in helping you grow as an adult and as a parent!!

I love that y’all are making plans. We let autism just takes us over. And it was 15 years ago. We had almost no options. I love your honesty with your family. Your mom is awesome. She is an amazing woman. It really doesn't feel ”fair.” But when you come to grips, you do. Then it is okay. To be honest, I am there but my husband is not. And I am okay with the fact that he may never be. It feels ”unfair.” But, you have to find the joy in every life. Whatever struggles we may face. Find joy. My mom worries so about me. But I am learning to find joy.

Awww, I love your mom! She really is the best, and my mom goes through the same feelings that she does, about my son. I think its just harder for them because they are worried about their child and grandchild. We never want our kids to go through things that we consider hard but what we know about our autism kiddos, is that they are resilient as all get out!!!! They are living their best life and we will continue to make sure that they do. Just because that life looks a little different that others just makes it that much more interesting ;)

I totally understand when your mom told you "I hardly see you now", I do the same thing to my daughter who is an adult now and she lives with me. lol I want to be with her as much as I can be. So I can relate.

When I was about 2 weeks old, my parents were told that I was blind. She didn't discover differently until I was 8 month's old when I picked up a stamp laying on the couch. I am considered legally blind but I can see quite well. I am 51 years old, and my sweet mom still cries about my vision and several other issues related to it. I have a brother who is 2 years younger. He is married, I'm not, has 2 beautiful daughters, I don't have kids and wish I did, he has a great job, and I couldn't find anyone to hire me because of my other issues. LOVE and PRAYERS ALWAYS from Gainesville Florida.
