This is the 4th movie in the series, but seeing this first doesn't spoil anything. Max never sticks around, he just helps out and moves on. To understand Max better, I recommend the original trilogy starring Mel Gibson as Mad Max.

They wouldn't even know that because they never even saw the original! See? You can't go out of order! You need to watch the original trilogy before you watch this one! Am I the only one who realizes this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

@@benjauron5873 One thing that bugs me about some of my favorite film franchises, for example the Mad Max and Alien franchises is the fact his Interceptor is taken out of commission almost instantly in every film and the survivors in Alien that I want to see in the next film are always killed off. But yeah, watching Mad Max and eventually this film really gives you an idea of the uniqueness of the director and his vision and that great Australian feel..and the evolution of film-making. You gotta blame the people who recommend the films out of order. It's okay that this is film is seen out of order but some films, like the Evil Dead have been seen out of order and that's really annoying. It spoils it for them. Still, why the F didn't Russell Crowe star in this?

The original Mad Max is a little unusual by modern film standards, but in a way that's what makes it such an amazing piece of cinematic history. It also goes a long way towards explaining Max's character, and why he is the way he is. A hero of circumstance, but also a lost soul forever seeking redemption.

The transformation of ‘Witness me’ from a shout of blind devotion and peusdo-religious fanaticism of hoping their life has mattered for something more to a whisper of remorse and regret, hoping to be remembered for love and true devotion…. One of the greatest character redemption arcs I’ve ever seen, and completely deserved.
@egomaster76
@egomaster76 6 ай бұрын
What's even more mind blowing is, "Witness me" and the dialogue midway through the movie between Nux and the redhead wife is the only dialogue about this. And that dialogue doesn't directly connect to this arc. It only shows us Nux is looking for a new purpose in life, not necessarily redemption.

The war boys are “half life” because they have radiation poisoning and cancers and all sorts of birth defects. Some of the proms of that is like blood cells just straight up dying. So they use “full life’s” who aren’t radiated and very very sick for things like reproduction, blood transfusions, milk production. Draining blood from max might make him tired/ weak and taking too much very frequently can cause some stress on the cardiovascular system but it wouldn’t really hurt max. Only way for max to end up like one of the war boys is eating food / drinking water/ breathing in dust etc that is radiated.

Sheep will follow their leaders over a cliff. The question must be asked, who killed the world? There is a profound message here. The Mad Max series is a story of an Australia after worldwide nuclear war. Possibly two of them. First they had a World War over oil, and that contaminated a lot of the world's water supply. Then that led into another World War over water, and civilization collapsed entirely. All contact was lost with the world outside of Australia. Max used to be a policeman in the world before. These movies do a great job of showing the huge discrepancy between the educated people from before, and the uneducated people born after. Perhaps Thunderdome did the best job of showing this.

I've gotta say, I've always been torn on this one. I grew up watching the Mad Max films with Mel Gibson, so my expectations were HIIIIIGH for a sequel without him. While I enjoyed the hell out of this on a technical level, and the world building involved was leaps and bounds beyond what George Miller was able to accomplish back in the day, I have to say I was pretty damn disappointed with Tom Hardy's Max; he was pretty much a side character in his own film, and for a film with his name in the title, I was let down as a big fan of the franchise. I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said before by others, but the fact that this film focused WAY more on a character that I didn't really go to the cinema for utterly bewildered me, and I didn't appreciate the feminist bait and switch that I ended up experiencing. As for Furiosa: a "Mad Max Saga," I gave it a chance for completion's sake (I was scared it would be yet another modern Hollywood girl boss movie which, for the most part, it wasn't), and while I had fun with it I would have loved it a lot more if it took place in ANY other universe, and the reason it flopped (in a BIG way, I might add) is mainly because... well, Mad Max isn’t in the film. Anyway, rant aside, I'm sure you guys will have a good time with this, but I highly recommend you watch the first three films, especially The Road Warrior. Mel Gibson is the one true Max! Witness them!! 😂❤

"I have to say I was pretty damn disappointed with Tom Hardy's Max; he was pretty much a side character in his own film, and for a film with his name in the title, I was let down as a big fan of the franchise." Man, I wonder why the guy who created the whole series and the character, and understands both better than anyone else, might do that.

@@BH-wh2voyou can be smug about it if you want, but my point still stands. And I have to question Miller to an extent since Furiosa BOMBED at the box office.

@@reservoirdude92 Box office success != Good movie, especially these days. It's received 4.0, 8/10 reviews. The Max of the old movies literally couldn't be the hero of this movie, it wouldn't make sense thematically. Ah yes, the idiot-cult of antiquated masculinity and power defeated by... an archetype of antiquated ideas of masculinity and power. No, in this one, he's someone who overcomes himself and uses his strength to uplift others. He realizes at the end he can't be a part of the new society they're building, because he's a relic of the old, violent world. Or we could have a tough action-cop driving a cool car, I guess.

Jesus christ thats a lot of arrested development, man. It’s not his film. It’s an ensemble film in a series where the characters complement one another. The title being mad max is just a grounding. The girlboss thing is weird to not only expect in a way youd hate but anticipate being upset over given that luterally each film is directed by the same person.

@BH-wh2vo Lmfao... Oh Please. Spare us. Max's _"aNtIkWaTeD mAsKuLiNiTiE"_ is _exactly_ what saved _all_ their posteriors from being turned into hamburger. Without it, they'd have been doomed, and you friggin know it. And Max left at the end simply because he's a loner and doesn't want to deal with people in general. You'd know that if you knew anything about the franchise beyond this movie. Man you spouted a bunch of PC dreck here. Jebus. 🙄
