TequilaToothpick. Sure, but how many action movies from the 60s and even 70s have become culture icons? Re-watched dozens, hundreds of times. Even 30-40 years later. Have influenced numerous later movies (with varying degrees of success.) Also, I don't see many reactors reacting to the likes of "The French Connection", "Bullet", "The Dirty Dozen", etc. (Though they should.) That is the point I was making. I did not imply there were no action movies prior to the 80s. It is just that they are not as memorable present day. Did not leave as big a mark.

I clicked this one super fast because I’m a die hard Die Hard fan.😁 32:20 Ryl: “Is he taking matters into his own Hans?” Niiiiice!🤭😉 Bill is short for William (which is what the abbreviation Wm on the board John saw behind Hans stood for), so Hans knew there was a William Clay who went by Bill working there and John, back in the ‘80s when that name and its abbreviations and nicknames were more common, would see the abbreviation and know Bill Clay was a correct answer for someone working there. And part of why this movie got extra attention when it was released and was talked about for years after was for having more average guys as the heroes (after years of heavily muscled Stallone & Schwarzenegger movies). The sequels are definitely worth checking out (a lot of people are particularly fond of the third one). Virtual 🤗🫂 Byyyeee!👋

@quarantinetheater56128 ай бұрын
Yeah...funny..I think they framed it more as - he understood the words but questioned why, so he repeated it....but it was really for the audiences sake.
@MartinBeerbom8 ай бұрын
@@quarantinetheater5612 There's the big irony here because the German version tried to tone down the ... Germanness .. of the perps. They changed the names to Jack, Henry, Charlie, etc. Which totally fucks up the scene where McClane writes down the names, which the German dialog makers covered by adding the line "I call you Hans and Karl like the evil giants from the fairy tale". (This is FAR from being the worst German dialog authors have ever done to a movie.) So the glass scene works like intended -- Karl just doesn't understand the logic, so Hans has to repeat. But then *I* go ahead and watch the English language version and get to that scene -- with Alan Rrickman's obvious phonetic pronunciation and wrong grammar, so Karl's "Huh???" gets a totally different dimansion.

And then put the gun in his lifeless hand at he lay on the stretcher before racing back down to the first floor and coming out a minute after John and Holly, who came straight down, so Al could shoot him and get his confidence back. As someone with a hobby in electronics, the most glaring flaw to me in the movie was the two way radios. And how the police and terrorist were all on the same frequencies. The radios the "terrorist" were using was an Amatuer Radio (HAM) transceiver. I operates on quite a different frequency than police radios. Of course, the two-way radios were a key element in the plot so... Everyone can talk to and hear everyone else. I had to let that go. Still an incredibly awesome movie. Couple of things, on the jump before Hans and and John meet for the first time(also the first scene they shot together, not to mention the first time he filmed anything since this was his first movie), rickman sprained his ankle and thought he would be fired. That’s why he wasn’t walking around for most of the film. Anytime he fired a weapon, he had a tendency to blink, so his face wasn’t shown a lot when he was.
