The very part where he sings 'yeeaayaaaah lifeless dead!!!' is SO fucking primal, so raw, it conveys so much of the pain he was feeling. It literally pierces me to the core. Such an amazing singer. His ability to make us FEEL was uncanny.

I say that’s not really true and more that the industry simply cannot support bands anymore. Single artists are the only ones that can even make money’s willing music anymore. Also music movements are impossible now as there isn’t an MTV or radio that is the main source of music. Combine those two along with tours being the only way a band gets paid and more entertainment options all creating a recipe for disaster as far as rock, metal, etc... is concerned. It’s not because music today sucks and it’s more that the genres you like don’t know how to be viable anymore and music scenes emerging are almost impossible in the way ‘grunge like cam about.

@goudagirl60952 жыл бұрын
The line that gets me and truly breaks my heart is "then a demon came to him, you must know I'm going to win..." I believe not only was Layne's struggle physical and mental but spiritual as well. He truly wrestled with his demons, and it may have been more than just a metaphorical saying. The horror of knowing that he lost his life to those demons who so tormented him is truly haunting (no pun intended). 😭💔

My friends and I got to see their "Live at the Moore Theatre" show. My ex was friends with AIC so we had 2nd row seats just left of center stage. So we were in alot of the crowd shots. We also had backstage passes. They had a 6ft tall pyramid of beer among other things. Lol. It was an epic night and an epic show. One of my all time favorites. Top 5 for sure. The "Moore" has excellent accoustics and being that it's a theatre the show was really intimate. That was the first time I met Layne. He sat quietly in the corner most of the night. He was always a very humble dude. Oh how I long for a time machine.

@@zolfodor4835 Yeah Seattle in the early 90's was a great place and time to be alive. To answer your question yes, I met everybody in the band, but what was really cool is all the guys from their respective bands were there too. I had a chance to meet them all. Oh yeah Chris and the guys from Soundgarden were there too. It was a good time. I was invited to a barbeque at Jerry's house the next weekend. It was wild to say the least. Lol. Oh yeah and I got to hang out and watch the Deftones record tracks for "Around the Fur" too. But back then we all kinda ran in the same loose circles. Seattle isn't a huge city and if you were playin music and doing drugs it was inevitable that you'd eventually cross paths. Edit: Now I'm remembering all sorts of things I'd forgotten. You got me all kinds of nostalgic. Lol. Anyway be safe my friend and good luck to you on all your journeys.✌

Mike shredding on that shit as usual! I think this from one of those shows where they hadn’t really worked out all the songs yet as the album wasn’t released until a few months later, but Layne really seemed to have this one down as opposed to “wake up” where he was still figuring out the lyrics. This band, this album, these musicians were incredible! Great performance! Happy to see new stuff from them popping up in my feed.
@ottogofast38825 жыл бұрын
Erin Faulkner I can definitely see that because Layne’s singing the melodies a little differently from the studio version but then again that could just be him feeling the music and improvising.
@erinnothingtoseehere49925 жыл бұрын
Warren Pellacani yeah true. He actually talks about the first couple gigs in an interview. They had only jammed a couple times the few nights before and he didn’t have lyrics yet. He said at one point he thought about running off stage while the band was waiting for something to come out of his mouth. I wonder was this one of those gigs? Or like you said, in the moment and feeling the music a little differently. Either way, a true artist and I love to see this old footage.

I've never heard it mentioned, but I'm starting to wonder if Layne was some type of musical savant, and/or if he had a photographic memory, because it was an _extremely_ rare occasion when Layne forgot any of the HUNDREDS of lyrics he sang over the years (and not just AIC/MS songs - even when he'd sing on other projects or with friends on stage randomly somewhere). Undoubtedly because of his drug use. But even _then_, he managed to 'stick the landing' on nearly everything. I can have the lyrics literally in front of my face, singing along, and STILL screw up. So that ability of his fascinates me no end.

@mkxv15 жыл бұрын
On the simplistic side one could interpret the lyrics being about a relationship, but this is clearly about addiction. "unclean bed" "alone on dirty floor he slept" referring to nod outs ppl on H do and the pain with withdrawals "then a demon......" MS was his peak at writing, the poetry on that album is phenomenal. Plus, by this point Demri and him had broken up a good couple of years before, I really don't see a lot of mourning on his lyrics except for the song Died that obviously references her

all the greats die young and tell there story on the way! its amazing to look back at songs written by the genius minds of tormented souls and addiction battled legends. the ones that hurt the deepest possess the lyrical art of connecting what they feel raw and articulate they live in misery behind the music but when inside of it they are free they are above all the pain and free of the grasp of demons, in this moment on this stage they rule them selves and the world, they control their own destiny! overdosed the way of death the story told comes to a inevitable end the last chapter he knew would come, the demon wins the almost untested champion of souls satans powerful undefeated weapon the life taker addiction! but his greatest tool is deception the skill of making god seem not real or worth our time, so deceiving we don't even contemplate that evil is real just humans being bad just religion causing division and wars! the sky fairy! that is the worlds problems! not the solution! lane knew the demon came and was going to leave with his life but he knew the demon which means he also knew god. the demon may win in your life most likely without question just don't let it deceive you he may win on this earth in this life but when life is lost god will save you! your soul will linger on outside of the grasp of demons in paradise the world is ran by satanic evil but the true heavenly and godly places where no evil can touch is obtainable through Christ! If you object you have already lost at life and even worse you will loose at death no matter what you want to say or what you feel or how dumb it all may seem your 100% without doubt wrong you fell for satans trick your mind is week faith eludes you and what a scary pitiful way to live void of hope no faith no purpose no real identity just the trick the world has played you with.
