As much as we can talk about Mike as an awesome guitarist and writer, let’s not forget the great human being. This band was formed not only to help himself deal with his drinking problem, but also because he hoped that working with sober musicians would help to push Layne to get himself clean. That’s a fuckin good friend.

@amyamestoy346910 ай бұрын
In my humble opinion, AIC w/ Layne left such a deep impact on so many even after decades since deep down they were one of the most genuine, kind, humble yet tortured souls. What I love most about Layne & Jerry is how they are never afraid to be brutally honest in their lyrics to express their emotions. They never tried to please anyone . . .if you like it, great! If you don't like it, get lost! Layne & Jerry were very close . . . I remember Jerry said in one of his interviews years after Layne passed that he would occasionally go visit Layne's house knowing that he wouldn't open his door since he was so ill during their hiatus (1996-2002), just to bang on his front door and let Layne know that he was here and still cared about him . . . letting him know that he is never alone in his darkest hours. Also, when Jerry was homeless after his grandma and mom's passing, Layne offered Jerry to stay with him if he had no where to stay when they barely just met! On the other hand, I felt that Kurt & Courtney and their overall 'drama' just ruined my impression of Kurt!

Wake up young man, it's time to wake up Your love affair has got to go For 10 long years, for 10 long years The leaves to rake up Slow suicide's no way to go, oh Blue, clouded grey You're not a crack up Dizzy and weakened by the haze Moving onward So an infection not a phase Yeah, oh The cracks and lines from where you gave up They make an easy man to read, oh For all the times you let them bleed you For little peace from God you plead, and beg For little peace from God you plead Ahhaahh, Yeah, Ahhaahh, Yeah, Ahhaahh, Yeah Wake up young man, wake up, wake up Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up Oh, yeah Wake up young man, it's time to wake up Your love affair has got to go, yeah For 10 long years, for 10 long years, The leaves to rake up Slow suicide's no way to go, oh Slow suicide's no way to go Wake up, wake up, wake up Wake up, wake up, wake up

This is New Years, '95...and Layne was already glued to the mic stand. God, I fucking hate that for him! Even still, his voice never left him. He was always brilliant.

Ive said this about genetics and athletics at the elite levels. Its work but more importantly you have to have what they have. And you go to the edge to get it.
