One of my Science teachers had some pet hissing cockroaches, and they did the impossible for me. They not only help me get over my fear of cockroaches, but they also gave me a love and interest for them (at least for the Madagascar kind) and now i have two of my own, named Tonk and Sassy.

@@theironrubberduck It did sound like a bird, you can tell more by the noises it makes after the "alarm" sound. And it's not unlikely that someone who has pet cockroaches would also have other interesting pets, by which I mean pets other than just cats/dogs. Most likely the bird was actually being a car alarm. They mimic people and words, but as I'm sure you've heard before, they can mimic a lot of other sounds as well. Whistles, other birds, cars, machines, whatever they hear. Maybe this person's car gets broken into a lot LOL because I know my pets have probably never heard a car alarm in their whole life, let alone enough for them to think about it and want to do it.

This roach is pretty unique tho, like the beetle, they have a horn (male) for fighting over a female, (in this video, this roach is male, you can see the horn on his pronotum) while female didn't, and then they have a mutual symbiotic with mites that cleaning this cockroach, and then, they're pretty clean and always cleaning up the forest floor (they love to eat rotten fruit or rotten leaves)

I’ve seen these hissing cockroaches appear in one of the Indiana Jones sequels. With the sounds they made in film one could assume that it’s just a Hollywood sound effects but apparently not. They make these noises when threatened in real life which makes them all the more terrifying even though their harmless. Lol
