Making A Vintage Vogue Dress ... But Make It Goth! | Madame Absinthe

On this week's episode of Miss E and Mary's sewing adventures we follow a pattern from Vogue from the 1950s! I hate following patterns with a fiery passion. Mary was not ready for the amount of work and detail I put into my dress! I just can't leave anything too pretty!

Stunning. A walking piece of art. I made a dress from an original 50s pattern a few months ago, it was sooo complicated and unusual. It took all my brainpower to work it out with the minimal instructions they provided in those days.

It definitely feels a lot more 'me' now that it's all patched and studded! I'm always an advocate of people DIY-ing their clothes, even if they just decorate something they thrifted; it certainly makes one's wardrobe a lot more interesting.

Don't want to disappoint you but when I saw you in the dress at Aberfoyle - my first and lasting impression was how very, very pretty you looked. The dress is fantastic and I am super happy that I saw it in person. I will admit that just like a child I couldn't keep my hands off of it - there was so much to see and touch and feel. Awesome dress - thinking about it, it reminds me of early Mudvayne for some reason, you know songs like Dig and stuff like that. Had I known these were the sort of patches you meant when we spoke about it, I would have totally sent you one - I thought you wanted them all embroidered and stuff, for some crazy reason, lol. I might do one of an animal skull and send it to you, maybe you can use it for something else. Beautiful work, everyone involved. As for favourite? They are both so different that its about favourites for what purpose, I guess. For Victorian stuff I love Mary's work. For literally everything but Victorian events, I prefer yours, lol - thats as close to favourites as I'm getting. :o)
