To me, Sub Madara’s voice personifies the inevitability of his power. The arrogance is not arrogance, it’s confidence and assuredness of skill. He’s power incarnate. Now the dub voice is like rushing torrents in pitch black of night. It sounds beautiful, but you know if you were to get close or jump in you’d never be see again. This Madara’s voice is scolding hot chocolate, the type of fear that disallows you to be totally terrified, because awe kicks in. As a person who speaks both languages, it’s pretty hard to pinpoint why I generally prefer Japanese sub to dub. In this case just listening to both up front side by side they sound very similar but something about it sounds different. Japanese tends to be pretty nasally in general but the way his Japanese VA talks puts more emphasis in his guttural speech. Not only this but the inflections along with olden age syntax gives his delivery a lot more depth than his English counterpart. His Japanese is sort of theatrical in nature kind of like a kabuki styled Villain. So it’s really hard to translate his sub into English dub without losing a lot of what makes his words powerful. What ends up happening is, although Japanese is generally a monotonous language, there are still inflections in speech that differ from that of English and trying to make English fit that narrative often makes it sound off. So even though at face value they both sound incredibly alike, it still sounds a lot different.

I'm Japanese. Madara believes himself to be the strongest and looks down on other shinobi. Japanese Madara's voice expresses ridicule well. The way Naoya Uchida says "Uchiha" is godly. He radiates power and is a walking God complex, Demanding you look up at him knowing he will step on you. Kaplan is cold af and radiates power an terror, you want to fear him when he speaks. These men are goated.
