@@madbackyard Thanks. I guessa follow up is if you use the Blackstone product for the seasoning and then use some sort of high smoke oil each time after I should be good? Is there anythig that leaves a flavor? I have never used Avocado ro flax seed oil. I would rather have a no taste effect.

@@madbackyard By the way, was that some kind of plug at the back of the grill to keep the oil from draining into the cup holder when seasoning the grill? Reason being, when I put my first tablespoons of Blackstone oil on the grill it immediately melted and went down the drain. Freaked me out! Talk about getting schooled. 😅

If you’ve already taken it out of the box and assembled it, and especially if you are leaving it outside, I would season to prevent rust over the winter. If you are keeping it indoors you can wait until spring.

Soap does not not not affect seasoning. False information. Years ago soap contained lye. That is no longer an issue. Dawn dish soap is perfect on cast iron.
@nicholem48316 күн бұрын
Except that Blackstone explicitly says NOT to use soap on the cast iron, other than for the initial clean as he mentioned, so if you care about your warranty and your equipment…it’s best not to FAFO. He’s simply presenting instructions based on Blackstone’s own recommendations.

Why do I hear a buzzing noise from my regulator?
@madbackyard3 ай бұрын
Try unscrewing and then reattaching the regulator. Could be a bad connection. Buzzing can be normal on newly filled tanks. A rushing or whooshing sound is bad as this can mean you have a leak.

For the record you can totally use soapy water to clean your cast irons, especially if you're going to immediately season again. Soap is good at cutting through grease, but it'll take some seriously strong soap plus elbow grease to cut through layers of polymerized oils.
