It's to prevent people from pumping and dumping. It makes sure that you can't earn money by not playing the game. If the fee was zero, people would just be buying cards and selling them for a few credits more instead of playing to get money. Of course this also benefits EA, but regulating a stock market is absolutely necessary. Oh, and if you're wondering. I have never been a real EA sports player. You’re actually cooking. Madden is THE WORST THING to happen to video games. Madden Ultimate Team came out in 2011, now idk about you, but I don’t remember loot boxes in every shooter or digital packs in every sports game before that year. DLC used to be for the most part worth it, map packs and additional game modes or extended campaigns. You used to be able to unlock new cosmetics in games instead of having to buy it separately which made games more exciting and meaningful to play imo. Other companies saw EA raking in cash with their greed and jumped on board “EA Sports, it’s in the Ultimate Team packs”

​​@@atumless9696 I play NBA 2k24 and MLB the show 24 only offline and I binge play both for hours, in both franchises you literally have to scout, draft and pick the right staff to win it you'll lose players get worse and you end up losing Star players in free agency It makes the games playable to the point I don't even get the newest editions or wait til each season is going to the post season MLB the show's depth in scouting is the best in sports gaming And in both they give you details like what player does well against right handed or left handed pitchers, how a player's skills change depending on home or away games, wind and weather And the NBA 2k24 actually has pre game and post game interviews with actual coaches and players with Alie and David Aldridge doing the pre and post game shows even bringing up stats or how a player does in the fourth quarter or plays against zone or full court defense And both games don't make anywhere near what Madden does yearly
