They do make a small L-bracket for older cameras, though they are genetic and not made to measure like this one for OM-1

Have they fixed the problem in the original Ollie where the base does not fit flush to the camera because there are no indentations to accommodate the pips/bumps on the bottom of the camera? I know a number of people complained about it and 3LT promised that they were going to revise it and would send me an updated bottom plate when they did, but as far as I can tell, they have failed to follow through on this promise. I have put in inquiries about this and gotten the response that they were still selling old stock and would be updating it in the future (but then radio silence.) I am pretty disappointed by their lack of follow through.

L-plate or Atoll (or similar) ... I'm undecided.

They are different beans. L-Plate is designed for photographers who need quick change from horizontal to vertical composition. L-plate is 90 degree and there is no needs for adjustments. Atoll is a 'turning' ring that adds flexibility vary angles of shooting, however, it's not design to give accurate 90 degree representation. It's similar in concept to support bracket to long tele lenses.

One has to pay to play. It's a niche market item and powered by supply and demand. How many of us are going to machine one of these ourselves? lol I am still trying to choose one for my E-M1X, so I can only dream of a $99 equivalent. lol

It's a bracket to allow photographer to change from horizontal to vertical composition in seconds without further adjustments. It's been well used by landscape and cityscape photographers for many years.
