I believe people often vastly overestimate the importance of armours ability to engage other armour, especially in ww2. Mechamized units were relatively rare, infantry AT weaponry sparse, weak and hard to manouver. The very respectable performance of tanks such as this one, pzkw3, and skoda 38t, that were a lot more mobile, had better crew ergonomics and carried radios whilst still being impervious to small arms fire, shows the true potential of armour. Numbers are not everything, and I truly believe a small country with limiterld industry was better off with two brigades worth of L60 derivatives, than they would have been with two companies of tigers.

Exactly. People always go into circle jerk comment war about guns, armor and transmisions. While always forgetting the most important thing. A Tank is a tank. Better to have one or a few, even if they are "weak", rather than none. They can go around, support by fire, radio connection, arty call in, or morale, just by being there. In retrospect, late was Toldie 2s and "medium" tanks, shoulnt have been bothered with. Might as well just made upgunned toldies, hell even open top/rear assault guns/tank hunters. Just like how germans converted Pz2s and Panzer 38t chassies, into tank hunters.

People cant forget that these early to mid war light tanks, like the italian, sweedish. Hungarian and others were good at the start of the war, just as good as the A13, ok the italians maybe not but still, they just didnt have the power to creat new tanks that are just as good as the enemie's. So they went with the best option they could use....

People give the Italians a lot of bad rep, and, sure some of it is deserved (The inept leadership, their stupid logisitics, the atrocious Breda M30 light machine gun, quite a few of their armored vehicles), but in other areas they are very far from being the joke-army they are portrayed as; When properly lead, the Italians fought with distinction and courage, the Italian air force had access to some of the best planes in WW2, which even the British admitted were superior to their own Spitfires, and the navy proved capable of excecuting daring missions around the Mediterranian. In the end they were let down by the aforementioned leadership and equipment issues as well as operational exhaustion and attrition from their pre-WW2 wars in Ethiopia, Spain and Albania.

These tanks were realy good for 1939-40, they just couldnt get better tanks fast enough
