That noise at the base of the windscreen on the drivers side was quite prevalent in the LC150 Prado’s in Australia, it turned out to be the air intake thru the inner guard that is vibrating, I wonder if it’s the same with the LC250?

I just bought a 2018 4Runner TRD Off Road for 28k with a lift and 100k miles. Zero rattles or sounds. Engine hums. I put the Shiftpower SP26 per Jon advice and the power on the pedal is perfect at 25%. I'll drive this for the next 10 years.

Jon, I believe I found the culprit of the sound you're hearing in your ear. For me, I kept hearing this sound in my left ear that sounded like tinging metal. Pulled off door panel, made sure bolts were tight and everything else was tight. Put door panel back on and heard it ever slightly still. After investigating more, I stuck a crumbled/folded receipt between top of driver's door panel and the metal, it has gone away. I believe it has something to do with the channel that holds the door panel in not being tight enough so it rattles the tin right under area. I will be happy to email you a picture if you want to see it. Thank you for the videos and knowledge!

I bought a new 22 tundra and my wife a new 22 4runner 3 years back. There is no comparison in build quality and materials between these 2 vehicles. The ticking time bomb tundra i got rid of recently and the 4runner we'll keep forever.

I have the 1958 and I accepted all of these same issues as “normal.” I did report the brakes to my dealer at my 10k service. I also assumed the seatbelt creak and door creaks were a by product of the reassembly ppf process Another thing I have an issue with is the inverter sound when over 1800w. It sounds like an airplane. Happens when I charger my bluetti battery or use an induction water heater. I’m enjoying the video and I appreciate you holding them accountable. As my first Toyota, I’m impressed with the LC.

I just went in for my 5k service on my GX 550 and I haven't had any issues whatsoever including rattles on my 550. I guess it's true that the Tahara plant where the GX is built is stricter than the Hamura plant where most LCs are built.

Yes please any service bulletin info would be appreciated. My GX 550 overtrail does it every time I back out of the driveway dealer could not replicate. I asked if there was a tsb. And didn’t really get an answer.

Hmm, 2025 Land Cruiser 250 owner here, no break squeals yet here, ill keep an ear out for the window noise nothing yet here. Overall super impressive with the overall quality. I haven't heard anything rattling, my lc was made in tahara factory, no ticking noise on the doors but ill keep my ear out for it. But i wonder if they addressed some of these issues Edit: that is an awesome pressure washer set up!

We LOVE Giraffe Tools! Installed their retractable hoses all around the property and gardens last spring. Now I think we need a pressure washer LOL. Have you heard of anyone complaining about vibrations from their HUD? The plastic housing around my LC was AWFUL for several months after we brought it home. I finally messed with it enough that it stopped, but it was super disheartening to hear after dropping so much cash and expecting it to be rock solid. Love that the 4Runner came to the rescue while it's at Toyota

If you move the seats all the way back and all the way forward the memory seats will work! On my LC. The only fit and finish problem is from the ac control panel is a little too loose for my liking but isn’t bad by any stretch.

The brake issue is a known issue that they do have a fix for. Did it with my GX550. They will want to diagnose it but if they can’t duplicate it they can’t order the parts. With a good video, they will. I did this and the parts took two weeks to come in, one day to fix. That same bulletin is out from Lexus for the GX. I’ll e-mail it to you to post if you like. Mine was also squealing while moving forward in slow traffic. No problems since the fix.

I bet is the Seat Belt mechanism. I believe a metal ball rolls forward to lock the seat belt under harsh breaking. I think the ball rattles when not under load.

My dads 2006 4runner had the same issues with his brakes for years. The dealership couldn't figure it out. It doesn't make that noise anymore. Maybe because of its age or the fact it has been in three accidents. Great video though. I think for road trips, you should consider the Sienna as it is quieter than this and can accommodate your entire family bertter.

Toyota Australia screwed the Aussie customers over with the new Land Cruiser 250 Prado. The mandated 48V mild-hybrid system (Australia, New Zealand, Asia (except Japan), and Europe) compromised the rear boot space, especially on the 7-seat variants (yes, this car can come with 7 seats and if you remove them, you end up removing your warranty). The Ad-Blue fluid is not favourable either. In Australia, the first four trims are up by AU$10,000 (US$6,238.30) from the previous-gen Land Cruiser 150 Prado, while the new Kakadu variant is up by AU$12,500 (US$7,797.88). I guess one advantage us Aussies get is more variety of variants to choose than the North American-marked Land Cruiser 250. Here are the new prices for the Land Cruiser 250 Prado in Australia (before on-road costs): GX: AU$72,500 (US$45,227.68) GXL: AU$79,990 (US$49,900.16) VX: AU$87,400 (US$54,522.74) Altitude: AU$92,700 (US$57,829.04) Kakadu: AU$99,990 (US$62,376.76) And the US variants in Australian Dollars: 1958: AU$90,890.15 (US$56,700) Land Cruiser: AU$98,536.46 (US$61,470) So even though Australia gets more affordable prices for the Land Cruiser 250 Prado than the USA (except for the luxurious Kakadu), us Aussies still think it's still very expensive.

That squeaky brake sound when reversing was exactly the same on my Landcruiser Prado 150 here in Australia, I sold it a few months ago, but not for that reason. My opposite neighbours had the same car and theirs did it too!

Concerning the noise around that right dash area try putting your ventilation system on recirculate . See if it went away.

Brake noise is a harmonic. Nothing is wrong with it but it is an annoyance. Dealership can’t fix it. Toyota needs to change pad chamfers or shims on the pads. I know because it was my job… they might throw grease on the back of the pads as a temporary solution.

My Supra brakes do the same when I am reversing, it’s so loud, It sounds like a horn. It got better as the brake wore down but it’s still there after 20k miles.

Toyota’s have never had that great of quality in the trim parts, rattles, etc. They were never premium vehicles, rather reliable with solid chassis and mechanicals. It’s only when they start charging premium prices that people really expect better quality, understandably. Yours looks a lot better than stock with those wheels. Toyota can never seen to sell a bone stock vehicle that looks good without some aftermarket upgrades.

Many moons ago I bought the first hen 4Runner. Before I bought it I was told to upgrade two things as soon as you got it - put a mild lift kit on because the rear springs would sag 2” within a year. The second was immediately change the headlights…. They were terrible. Did both, added a pair of Cibie’s mounted on my ARB Aluminum Bull Bar and added a turbo to the little 2 liter diesel. Get car after that.

Ours has the brake squeak in reverse, but I just chocked it up to rust on the rotor from sitting/rain. It seems to go away after a short drive. Thankfully I haven't noticed any interior rattles after 5500 miles. Just some wind noise I associate with a boxy truck. That door rattle is annoying though. But I gotta feel for the tech that's going to spend two days on this and probably earn 0.8 warranty hours.

The seat reset is very simple. Just move the seat all the way to the back, then all the way to the front. After that recline all the way back and then all the way front.

I have the same sound from my brakes when I put this thing in reverse. I brought it to the dealership they heard the sound, but they said there was no service bulletin so nothing we can do. I raised a case with Toyota and they said the same thing. If they resolve it Jon, please let us know on the channel.

I have a 2015 Tacoma that I have used to travel 3 continents. It has close to 260k miles on the odometer. The only OEM components to fail has been the AC compressor and rear driveshaft u joints. The truck is heavy because it has all the mods. In that time several aftermarket components have failed or caused problems. But OEM was all good. My next truck will stay stock. That being said, I was going to buy one of these on Monday, I’ve decided to hold my horses for another year or two to see if Toyota figures things out. My 2015 is still going strong, just wanted something new for Daily duty, but I don’t think these new Hyper expensive Toyotas are up to the quality standards I’m expecting from a Toyota. I’ve owned 14 Toyotas in the past 22 years. At times owning up to 4 at the same time, but my confidence in Toyota has shattered.

For the memory seat you have to move the seat forward and back to the max recline up and down to the max and raise up and down to the max. Mine did it too. It’s apparently just to calibrate it

I am going to be doing a 1st service on my 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage, the only thing its in need of is the oil change, I have zero issues with it, nothing no rattles, shakes or wind noise, its drum tight and rattle free, its unfortunate my 3X more expensive Tundra SR had interior noises throughout, but my sub -20K Mirage is free of defects (so far) Toyota needs to do a deep quality dive on its interior engineering standards.

That sound even I get it. It is purely a design. Check out the Windscreen Vertically Rubber beading. There is a hollow dip midway and these at both sides. The Air flow when driving creates a ripple and sound comes out. This is at 70mph+

lol my 2021 Tundra made that same brake noise when I backed out after a few weeks not driving it. It goes away after some driving. My 06 Sequoia has that wind noise on highway but only at 75 mph. The noise goes away if I drive below or above that. Really weird.

Hey Jon, I live in 30a and also have a First Edition. I have the dreaded rear drivers side door rattle. It’s all over the forums. It sounds like the glass is loose and rattles over small bumps. I applied window seal like you did to your Tundra, but that isn’t the issue. I also added door striker guards to tighten the tolerance. I removed the door card and padded every metal on metal and plastic on metal contact. It’s definitely an issue on these LC’s. I bought mine at PC Toyota. Which dealership are you having work on yours? If they find a solution I will bring it to them as well. I have video and audio of my terrible door rattle. It’s more than the B pillar. I had a 2021 200 series and never had these issues. I love the smaller size of the 250 series, but these build quality issues are disappointing. Please update us to the definitive fix. Toyota will surely have to create a TSB for this door rattle. I have the sqealing brakes while reversing as well. Thankfully, I do not have the front passenger side rumble from the front windshield. I also travel I 10 from SRB to Crestview. Hopefully, the dealer will have a definitive fix. Thanks for all you do, Jonathan

My 24 4runner trd off road premium has a rattle in the dash somewhere near the infotainment center. Our 24 Tacoma trd sport premium has no rattles at all. One made in Japan and one made in Mexico....go figure.

power seat wont program because it needs homed, move seat all the way to either front or back, then all the way in the opposite direction, your door program buttons should work after. had to do with my 24 RAV4, seen on another video somewhere looking how to set seat memory. not sure why the seats beep moving tho, also my RAV4 was a japan model with a J VIN.

The thing is, as expensive as these vehicles are for the regular folks, the companies like Toyota don't consider them to be luxury vehicles with purchasers that demand high quality. It's just another truck for Toyota, and like any company they exist to make as much money as possible.

lol, I’m seeing into the future…yes, the vision is getting clearer…a long wait while your vehicle sits on the dealer lot resolved by “unable to replicate” and “we couldn’t hear anything” as absolutely nothing is done about any of this.

I worked at Honda for 16 years. Sometimes we got complaints about noises/rattles that I couldn't even hear. Even if you hear it then you have to find the screw that was dropped in the instrument panel during production.

Lexus GX brakes are the same. They have a fix but huge waitlist. As far as creaks and rattles our GX has been silent. I think that’s what you get with Toyota vs Lexus

Sounds like metalic brake pads grabbing the pad corners. Change to Ceramic pads or shave the edges of the metalic pads and go from their. Just a thought and a suggestion, not the answer. 👋 😊

I get the brakes, but the other stuff if nit picking imo, plastic will make noise, especially when new.

@TRD JON - have you had any issues with you AC/heat? I have just 1,000 miles on my LCLC and found 2 concerns: 1) thermostat doesn’t seem to differentiate 60 degrees from 75 degrees, anything above LO = hot air and 2) the fan noise is very prominent when using the ⬇️ vent setting. It is quiet as can be with the dash vents and never had a vehicle that was so obnoxiously loud when switching to floor vents. ??

A lot of new cars adjust the air temperature based on the ambient cabin temp, especially when it's cold out. For this reason, uou'll find that 70 blows warmer in the winter than in the summer .

Without a doubt Toyota will continue to improve these vehicles. So many haters on the video, but the manufacturers will listen to TRD Jon and other hands on reviewers before any keyboard warriors. Great video!

Do you experience any issues with the front windscreen being so flat and not streamlined? Here in Aus, it certainly kills a lot of insects and is often littered with carcasses.

Lol, it's -20c where I live, and I have 2024 tacoma trd off-road, and my dash makes all kinds of noises. But when it's warm outside I don't here nothing lol

I have the exact same seatbelt adjuster rattle in my 2025 corolla, I think they just use universal parts on all their cars and they all rattle. It's annoying.

Jon - have you or anyone else with a 2024 Land Cruiser first edition heard any squeaks or rattles with the center console lid? In the middle back portion of the lid, I can push down with my finger and get it to creek as if it is cracked internally, and two pieces of plastic are rubbing up against each other. It also happens when you lightly lay your elbow on it. My dealer is fighting me tooth and nail to replace it. Thoughts?

@ thanks for the reply Jon. I honestly think it is cracked internally. I have your exact vehicle and I have the rear brake squeaking issue. Plus they are going to replace all of the rear plastic cargo panels top and bottom because they continuously pop out. I also constantly lose connection to my iPhone/Siri and my head unit goes dark from time to time. Not sure if anyone has had that issue or you have heard of those as well.
