When I was a kid (late 50's) my parents ran a hotel that was adjacent to a saw mill (Lupane, to be exact) in Rhodesia. I would often watch the activities at the mill and found it very interesting, but also well maintained. That was a long time ago and since moving to San Diego about 40+ years ago, I wonder what the saw mill looks like now.....?

That setup is a lot different from the old lumbermills I piled lumber in as a young man. We just had a covered roof, much like your firewood area. That first winter I worked there we had over 60 days in a row of below zero weather. Nobody wore shorts there, not even in the summer. Those guys got it easy 😄 That is a nice setup though, for sure. I also did some traveling piling lumber for an x-federal lumber grader and his wife, so I got to work at several different lumbermills, even one lumbermill that was steam powered in WI.

Hi Mike. Story: When I came to Vermont. I decided to work at a sawmill. When I got there the summer of 1981. They were going out of business. I REALLY enjoyed this video. Did you know? Pete 319 bought a used tree cutter! It doesn't automatically cut the tree's limbs. He cuts the trunk & it's tops. He cuts the limbs w/ the chainsaw. He worried about the lumber economy. He's worried about a " bad purchase" of this tree cutter. I bet it took them years to build thier company. Well. 2 active generations there. I NEVER seen that many tires on a truck's trailer! 😱🙄😬🤔🤔🤔🤔 Thanks Mike & Melissa. Say Hi to Eva, Hunter, Levi, Tyler, & Hannah. Have a good Sunday the 1st. 🥰🙂😉😱🙄😬🤔👍❤️💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻☀️
