wonder why more road/gravel bikes ,do not come with a standard fender set. for alround weather riding?

Not everyone desires to ride with fenders... I never use them.

Some people love to get plastered with mud. 🙂 BTW, thicker mud would cake up between the tire and the fender.

I believe what he means is, the two gear ratios are changed by pedaling backwards briefly.... then forwards again.
