Agree 100% with your review, even down to it probably being in my top 5. I'm not usually one for upgrading my games to new editions but I expect I'll make an exception for this one when the new version comes out.

It’s also in my top 5 games of all time. I like the pirate tokens, especially when I don’t have any at the end! Great review of a great game and I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with the upgrade.

Thank you for this. I have been looking forward to this since Husband has been enamoured by this game since long time. As soon as your patreon poll came, his first vote was Madeira. Pirate tokens do seem punishing but will have to wait and see. Anyway, we will be definitely backing it on KS.

Another game I’m yet to play and knew little about. Really like the idea of reviewing older games that people may not be aware off, will look out for the KS and retail release that will follow. I think it’s overall a good problem but expensive problem that there are so many games out there! But that’s for another forum / discussion group. Cheers

Great review of this game! I always hear people talking about Madeira, so it was cool to hear your perspective on it. I also really appreciate your thoughts on the rulebook. Now, I obviously haven't played it, but I think that too many people approach heavy games and expect the rulebook to be simple, and often it just takes a lot more to digest. If there's a ton of detail to the game, the rulebook might be a difficult read. You just need to take your time with them and plan on putting the time in to learn. I'm super excited to hear that this is hitting Kickstarter in 2019, which is awesome, as I had no idea. I completely expect to back it. Thanks!

Thanks for the great review. Even more firmly on the budget for whenever the Kickstarter lands. Not sure if you didn't mention it or I simply missed it, but how does player count impact the game?

I didn't mention it. I should have done. I've played most of my games at 4 player, maybe a few at 3. It scales fairly well, just less competition in the cities. Other areas, the number of spaces are adjusted based on player count.
