I LOVE the floors. With all the white in there, the warmer toned floors make the space look so cozy, but they are still light enough that it doesn't make the room look dark like the old floors did. Gorgeous!!! I can't wait to see the whole kitchen when it's finished! I'm in the middle of a kitchen renovation myself, and I can't wait to have countertops and a sink again 😂

I laughed so hard at this. NOT because of you…… During the height of the pandemic, when we all had to stay home, I decided it’d be a great idea to sand our original floorboards in the living/dining room. Obviously, the hire shops were closed. Not to be defeated, I came up with the brilliant idea that I’d sand by HAND!!! 😳 three WEEKS later, THREE belt sanders, two mouse sanders, swearing and tears, broken back and sore hands, it was done! At least you had the sense to wait to hire a sander! I can laugh about it now, but f*ck , NEVER ever again! 😂🤣😂

It's a nice contrast. It's hard to make new things look old. If you tried to match it, you would have just been frustrated it wasn't quite right. I like the warmth it brings into the room to go will the cool greens in the cabinetry. It looks like 90% of it will get covered by a rug anyways so I wouldn't worry too much about it. They are obviously a huge improvement from the old color.

I agree! It’s so normal in projects like this to end up with a different result from what you had in your head but then realising it’s actually better than your original idea!

Happy type of “mistake”, end result looks gorgeous! Green looks so nice against that warm tone, so does the rug and floor matches the stone of fireplace! At least that’s how it looks on video! I think couple of different wood tones are often complimentary to each other, especially when you have one main shade everywhere and only floor is different tone.

The floor looks fab! You've worked so hard and have done an amazing job. As you've used wax (and not plastic sealing varnish) any slight new orangey effect will gradually mellow towards the vintage colour of your ceiling joists as the floor can still 'breath' (atmospheric oxygen naturally oxidizes pine towards greyish tones). So you've done all the right things! Great videos ~ they bring so much cheer...thank you!

I have used a coffee solution to match in a patch of new boards on 100 year old boards. I have used oil on floors in three houses now and love it. My local shop gave me sachets to try which was so helpful. The boards in my current house are extremely hard and possibly maple. They took ages to sand. Your floor looks great!

You both should be so proud of your accomplishments in such a short time that you have owned this beautiful cottage. It’s very very nice to see two people work together as a team to make some thing looks so beautiful. I think in winter you will love the warmth of the floor. All cool or all warm can make a space overwhelming. A mixture of both is naturally balanced ❤️ love the floors!

The floors look great! Well done! And after a bit of time, the color may settle down a bit more especially when everything is in and the floor gets some wear. As you have said, nothing is perfect in an old house. But this floor looks great to me! And the most important thing is if you are happy with them! Now you can get on to the fun bits!

The floor looks as if it has been there for long time and you have just cleaned it, which of course you have 😂. It will now age gracefully and take all the knocks and dinks without you having to be precious about it which is what you want in a floor. I bet in a month you will not notice it which will show that you have done a good job. How lovely to have had such good floorboards in the first place. The wonderful thing about pine is the light coming in through the window will alter it as time goes on. The hard work and anxiety was worth it. Lovely video. Loved the one about the dresser too.

Those sanders are BRUTAL... my daughter and I did pine floors with one and it kept breaking sanding sheets and causing all sorts of grief.... I absolutely loved the soot sample, it was beautiful and bang on the grey I think you wanted... love your peeping tom at 3:17!

I think they look beautiful. We are renovating a victorian cottage at the moment and my taste is very similar to yours. I wanted the same colour as your beams for my table and other furniture but it seems really hard to achieve. The transformation is great though. Great work!
