Madeline Bell (born July 23, 1942) is an American soul singer, who became famous as a performer in the UK during the 1960s and 70s with pop group Blue Mink, having arrived from the US in the gospel show Black Nativity in 1962, with the vocal group Bradford Singers.

She had a truly stand alone voice, even though she backed Dusty, her voice was quite incredible. Little known fact is that Dusty used to do backing vocals for her. I think she’s retired now but if anyone knows different, I’d be glad to hear it👍❤️

@@postscript67 yes Dusty wasn’t adverse to doing backing vocals even when she was elevated to Diva status she’d still happily back singers she admired. She backed the wonderful Madeleine Bell on many tracks she recorded. Madeleine’s version of “Climb Every Mountain” gave me goosebumps on first listening. She really deserved to be recognised as a solo singer, alas the 60’s were a difficult time for female singers as guys dominated the scene and the percentage balance was quite low for the ladies, at a time when the population saw more women than men in the country. The irony was it was ladies buying all the male based singers records that allowed the pattern to continue.🕊️❤️👍

Madeline had talent and charisma by the bucket load . She should have been a huge solo star...but that isn't to deride the fame she found by being in Blue Mink.& Blue Mink itself being very underrated considering the run of very good hit singles the group had over the space of 5 years or so back in the late 60s /early 70s.

I love her to bits. I never understood why she never got her teeth fixed though. It made not a jot of difference to that incredible voice but a fickle public liked and, still does, stars to be perfect, that’s why cosmetic surgery is a billion dollar business. Me, I couldn’t care less how she looked, the voice and personality was all she needed, and she had it by the bucket load. In my estimation, she’s is a Diva❤️❤️🕊️🕊️👍
