As a student you under-ranked your English teacher. Your school invests in teachers, pays them salaries. The management will side with the teacher, not the student. This happens in any hierarchical organization, including any company. When it's a decision between a senior-ranking company employee and a newbie, management will always go with the senior person because they've got an investment there. Your English teacher lied, but the sadder truth is that ethics counts for little. This is something to keep in mind because as long as you are NOT the senior person, you are in danger of running into this exact same scenario: in your 20s, your 30s.... You can be the most generous kind gentle person but it doesn't matter. It's the other person. It's hierarchy. It's money and prestige. I know you signed a great deal, you are becoming your own hierarchy, that's the way to do it. We're with you!

God are they so codescending. . . 14:30 especially this story here. Madeline has faced actual liars in hierarchy positions.

Shouldn’t the student be considered as the “client”, rather than a “newbie”, in this analogy?
@purpletiger93135 ай бұрын
@@AnnaQuagini In a private school (or in a public school in the UK) it might be so because the parents are paying tuition. But here I'm writing about personalities and perceptions where things like "client" may not count for anything at all (though a teacher would never admit it on the record). Obviously Madeline's teacher didn't care. It's rather shocking.

As a former English high school teacher in both UK and California, AP English is sooo much harder than English A level and your former teacher should have been fired for any one of those incidents. I would have loved to have you as a student and I’m sure folk learn more from you than they do from her. The only folk listening to her are the ones drafted into her classroom.

@@xbellahart are you British? I'm American and I genuinely don't think her accent is even remotely American. She may occasionally say singular words in a more "americanized" pronunciation but she never has a non-British accent for any longer phrases or sentences. I just think British people are just hyper aware of any minute shifts in pronunciation from whatever established "English" accent they have assigned that person to have-but that is by no means American.
