The interviewer is Paul F Tompkins and he's one of the greats of the podcasting world. He has a podcast called Spontaneanation where he interviews someone for the first half and then he and some other improvisers do a longform improv scene loosely (sometimes very loosely) based on the interview. It's pretty entertaining sometimes.

The first few episodes of New girl were uninteresting when the focused everything on ZooeyD, but after a while they focused much more on the support characters and the show is way better for it. Nick, schmitt, and winston really make the show.

Not sure if you've figured out who he is, but it's Paul F. Tompkins. He had a podcast for a few years called Spontaneanation where he would interview a different guest each week, then he and some improv friends would do a long improv loosely based on the interview. If I may be so bold, i highly recommend looking up "Spontaneanation Live from a dentists' (dental?) convention" with Colin Hanks. It's here on KZbin somewhere. Fucking HILARIOUS. 😂

Everyone says parks and rec. This is great though. I love how sort of "boringly honest" Jake is being here. It's great information. And I love how normal and conversational Jake Johnson is just in general. Similarly Paul F. Tompkins cuz he's just doing all these independent projects like this, things with live near audiences, people who are basically just improvisors and such, so he seems extremely accessible, but his persona, the consummate magnanimous host, welcomes all of us personally, while also raising his status above ours.
