Hi Mark. You gave me another challenge and great explanation today~ Thanks. Btw.. For ' I'm lotioning up my skin',,,can preposition 'Up' be changed into 'on' or 'to'? Like.. I'm lotioning on my skin or to my skin. .... ?
@MadEnglishTV6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! 😃No, it cannot be "on" or "to" if lotioning is used as a verb. But you could say, "I'm putting lotion on my skin." (noun)
@louiselake.61706 жыл бұрын
@@MadEnglishTV Aha.....I see! Verb lotion goes with 'up' and verb put goes with on.! Thanks a lot. He doesn't like to lotion up his face after washing his face but i always put lotion on my face. Right sentence? ;)

Hi Mark, Thank you so much for making so many lessons on KZbin. I experience this sort of words (noun being used) by native speaker every other day since I have been to Canada. I understand meaning of them but Often times I am confused if it is correct way. Do you think I can utilize Similar “verbing” on my Future CELPIP or IELTS exam ? I am not sure if it is correct. Such as, can you water flower plants ? I would like to know if you conduct physical test preparation class in Calgary.
@MadEnglishTV6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ramesh, Thanks for watching my videos! 😃Yes, I think you can use verbing on your exam if you think it would be suitable. Actually, I'm preparing to move overseas and I stopped teaching private lessons right now. Hopefully in the future I can offer private lessons again! Take care, Mark

1:02 (What Kind of car is it?) i believe that incorrect, because yellow is color not kind, (What color of car is it?) kind going with (SUV, Cup, sedan)
@manuelbracho35026 жыл бұрын
I was thinking in the way of brand.
@MadEnglishTV6 жыл бұрын
You're right. I was trying to say that adjectives answer the question "what kind?" meaning a description of the vehicle. "Yellow Toyota sedan" are all adjectives describing the car.

Hi Sir,Thank you very much for teaching us the tips and tricks for CELPIP. I wanted to ask you a question regarding the CELPIP evaluation as compared to IELTS. Both the tests are equally tough though the format is different. But why is that CELPIP score exactly equal to CLB whereas lower IELTS score is converted to higher CLB score point even though both the exams have same level of difficulty? Because of this the person writing CELPIP is at a greater dis-advantage, isn't that true? Thank you in advance! Venkat
@MadEnglishTV6 жыл бұрын
Hmm, that's an interesting observation! It might be true. To be honest, I'm not sure why that is!

No haven't. I agree that by learning grammar you can't start speaking english or any other language. You are only getting used to it. We all learn how to speak first and than, many years later, use the grammarbook just for reference to what we already know any only to systematize our knowledge. Here is an example. I used to live with Lithuanian people for couple of years. I hadn't any idea about this lenguage before. But in two years I could understand and speak it. Of course I didn't speak it like a native but still enough for sitting around the dinner table and having a good conversation. Infortunately I've forgotten it for not using it for a long long time. It is amazingly beautiful language, it is very close to our mother tongue we all spoke thousands years ago. The dependence of a meaning of the word on its place in the sentence is very natural for analytical languages and it is far more simple than the synthetic languages or even polisynthetic languages.
