Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

@@AdriftFishing And you may have 'invented' duel jigs as a norm in SA 😁. Then you can offer 2 colours always. I have seen them on lines one above the other, sometimes 6 deep for Japanese, might get a bit tangley though. Thanks for the video

Wicked video mate! Just curious do u always use that wire set up when you drift? Also where can I purchase that setup or did u make it?
@Psevdokranos2 жыл бұрын
mate, when I watched this video couple of weeks ago I got really amazed with the easy way to make same setup. I will share with you what I did myself. Got a thin but sturdy enough shirt hanger. Cut the horizontal part and left the two legs of it. Got a plier and bent the edges of it. Before bending them I ve fitted the swinging swivels, each on one side, then used the plier and made the closed loops. On the top hanger's hook-alike edge, used the plier to make another loop and attached it to my leader. The rest comes obvious I think e.g. how to mount the squid jigs. There are improvements to be made for the rig not to drift more to one side, needs balanced weight. The drop-weight to mount on the center should be (depending the currents and depths you consider working it) something like 10-20 max grams, that's what I used and it worked. Got with kayak slow trolling 4 squids and a cuttlefish (the cuttlefish strike was when I kept the rig at the bottom and pedalled half a turn my kayak for about 5-6 times). It's very easy, worth a try.

@@Psevdokranos thanx heaps mate, yeh I will be in my boat when I go out next and I’ll give it a crack! U don’t recon the squid see the wire or anything?

@@Psevdokranos when your drifting with this rig have u got its few metres behind the boat or nearly straight under
@Psevdokranos2 жыл бұрын
@@lachlanbradley4456 I am offshore kayak fishing, depth max 20-30m, I leave it to touch bottom first, then leave say 20 more m and move slow, veeery slow speed. The sea swing makes its part, the rig with its drop weight is swinging up and down over the bottom, the squid jigs do not touch bottom but 'fly' over the bottom smoothly. The squids cannot resist, will try their luck and statistically, depending on their appetite and rush of the attack to feed...will get caught. You can try it, it's easy, fast, efficient and you can experiment more with it for sure. White coloured jigs reign, red head and white body. Of course i fish in Med sea, and the sea place has not very clear waters. Squids won't bother with the metal part. If you could get a grip on some glow paint to make it more flashy it'd work too. Green glow works.

@@AdriftFishing yeah sounds like a good plan. What I'd be curious about is how much the texture of the lure is a factor considering they have neurons in their tentacles. Obviously when they are hungry they'll whack anything, but sometimes they do like a cop a feel of the jig before committing to it. As their visual acuity is quite literally one of the greatest in the animal kingdom, I'm not sure how much of a factor a slight colour change in the jig matters. I think the colour selections available are to sell us suckers more jigs, myself included 😂
