It's the one thing I hope our generation is better at. There's no reason at all for her to have gone through all that horrific trauma and adults let her down like that. I never want to go back to how women were portrayed even just 10 year ago. It's sad thinking how I and many other women grew up with this treatment normalized. Eugh!! I sure hope we can all continue to grow, and continue to not put down other women just because of internalized misogyny 👏

I genuinely hope she eventually talked to someone who could help her through her feelings instead of screaming online. @LilyLewis771

This section pissed me off SO much because they’re basically just getting mad at Madison for being beautiful. Like just Madison existing is apparently “setting unrealistic beauty standards”… so what, Madison should change her face and body to please them? Is that not the problem women are complaining about? If you’re not beautiful you need to change and if you’re too beautiful you need to change. I can’t say whether Madison has had plastic surgery or uses photoshop or not but- I’ve seen plenty of women in person who are utterly gorgeous and have amazing bodies, it’s absolutely possible she really looks like that. The problem is how much society values beauty and makes women that aren’t beautiful feel worthless. The problem is that some girls feel bad because they’re not in the top 10% of beauty, not that those beautiful women exist.
@liviaelectra422

Clarifying the alegriers drama (as someone who witnessed it real time): Ale was a magcon stan living in LA. She had constant run ins with the guys, not enough to be close or anything but they definitely remembered her from meeting so many times. Hated Madison for whatever reason (at the time she said Madison was rude to her friends). Ale had a fan meet up at the Grove - just a bunch of teens on twitter wanting to make friends. That same day, Madison was coincidentally also at the Grove meeting fans of her own. They told Madison that Ale (the girl who threatened her on Twitter) was there and Madison sought her out to confront her irl. Ale was caught off guard and didn't expect to fight at the Grove of all places, hence the awkwardness. They talked everything out on the spot and were fine after.

In his statement- he says: "if she didn't help me overcome my ways and change"..that is never, ever YOUR responsibility and if you feel this way about a partner, leave. Or at least seek therapy and support. It isn't healthy to feel the need to "help" someone else be a better person. There's a difference between growing together and changing over time VS expecting others to carry the responsibility of your shitty ways. I wish I would have learned this a long time ago. The amount of plastic surgery that young stars get (likely due to pressure from adults that mange them in some capacity) is pretty absurd. These kids/young adults then get blamed for doing what they were told to do by authority figures. I clearly have no idea whether Madison has had work done on her face (besides what she mentioned). But the anger and ire from folks should be directed at the adults that force these kids to alter themselves in a way they wouldn't otherwise.

people criticizing madison beer for saying her favorite book is Lolita even tho she herself was a girl being groomed and sexualized from the age of 13 feels......weird. like have we considered she maybe related to dolores in a way or are we just gonna assume the worst of her and also discredit this book that, while heavily portraying pedophilia, does not endorse it in any way and could resonate with a lot of young women who have been groomed by their own humberts

Agree, but also agree with her response to people, like that dark subject matter can be fun for lotsa people, but some people can’t handle it and also I think she should revisit it personally and see if she still likes it and also try and see if she can find a book she likes better, because then she would be reading which is good for her and also rereading it she could have more insight and fun with it

i think criticizing a girl whose body has been constantly scrutinized by grown ass people for her entire life for finding lolita particularly interesting is kind of fucking crazy. it's like people can't possible imagine this girl engaging in critical reading. maybe her words on the book weren't the best-thought but this assumption that someone's favorite book is their favorite because they relate to or agree with its narrator (especially in the case of a book like lolita!) is ridiculous.

I’m realizing a lot of negative feelings I had towards Madison Beer when she first became famous were based in jealousy and misogyny. I think she was treated horribly by boys and men, but also by women and girls who should’ve stood by her more but couldn’t because of this inherent competitiveness and jealousy that can tinge our acceptance of beautiful and successful girls/women. she embodies the pitfalls of that kind of anti-feminism, because I think some of the intense attacks come from people who see her living this wattpad dream and want to take that from her or make that dream less appealing by ruining it for her… I haven’t watched the whole video yet, but I’m excited to. Also the whole nepotism angle is soooooo annoying because even if the rumors are true this is how so many artists lie or fudge things to seem like they are more home grown. To be honest compared to someone like Dakota Johnson or Lily Rose Depp, this nepotism is like the least egregious case ever.
