“And in the meantime, take care of yourself.” Meanwhile, she is NOT taking care of herself… on the bathroom floor, in a hidden wall, on an iv food drip…
@Mscldrew2 ай бұрын
I think that’s fully intended… it’s just about every single individual in the social media and influencer sphere, spouting a variety of platitudes about ‘taking care of yourself’ ‘live well’ and ‘mentally health is important’… while simultaneously cracking at the seams indebted, lonely, starving themselves physically and emotionally to stay relevant, popular, increase their following and relevance.

I feel like she does it as a tactic. Like to make herself more likable showing a little vulnerability by forgetting something. It makes the whole affair stay in your mind longer than if she just said take care of yourself like she normally does.

Agreed, the whole film I feel so sad for Elizabeth Like she still had fame and money and could have been fine but the industry has just broken her self esteem so much that she just chases after affection from the very people who kicked her to the curb once she was no longer useful in their eyes. It’s so sad but at the same time you can kind of understand why she’s doing it, like to her it’s so ingrained into her psyche that this is what she’s supposed to want and she does still enjoy performing. I wish she went on the date with Fred, maybe things could have gone better Sorry for rambling just really love this movie and have many thoughts :3

It's interesting to see the contrast between this show and the original. Sparkle Your Life started off so positive and upbeat back when Elizabeth still had a shred of confidence in her talent, but as Sue she basically sold herself for the sex factor and the show becomes so hollow and vapid in the process, losing the genuineness it once had.
@musingwanderer2765Ай бұрын
Isn’t it the same whereby ppl today get a beauty cam, and go to OF and call it a career, boasting they are making more money than ever compared to boring Jurassic jobs 😹
@jessica-ni1viАй бұрын
agree, but it isn't like Sue had complete control over her portrayal and sex factor, that is decided by the director
@lizanya64333 күн бұрын
elisabeth never had confidence. that’s why she took the substance in the first place. sparkle your life was marketed towards women so they can “have the right body and age well just like elisabeth!” the problem was ALWAYS there. elisabeth’s career was still based on her looks which is why she thought that was all she had to offer. on top of that, neither sue nor elisabeth are making the decisions for the show. the executives are. elisabeth didn’t “sell herself out”. her show wasn’t built on her morals, it was built on her looks and it’s the same case with pump it up. the executives decided elisabeth was too old to be considered attractive so they got a younger woman (sue) and started marketing the show towards men. that’s why elisbeth’s workout for women was easier to follow along to, while sue’s workout is basically just a show for men to watch a young sexy girl dance for them. neither sue nor elisabeth were in positions of power. they both did what the network, run by men, wanted. THATS the problem. men deciding women no longer have value when they’re old. realistically, women like sue have been manipulated by hollywood into believing they’re in a position of power by having their own show for their looks because they’re the “new hot thing”, but in reality, the men are making the decisions. the men are still deciding who has worth based on their looks.

All the while vigorously shaking a small limp shrimp in his hand😂😂😂 That's the moment I fell in love with the movie. We all wither with age, which is completely normal and a part of life, but for some reason only woman's age and decline are seen as a negative. While men lose their vital functions at the same pace, if not quicker, and no one dare to mention a certain pill named V----a lol!

A nice detail in the movie was how when the crew told her to see Harvey, they were all pissed with her because they thought she messed up something. They don't care whether she gets good news or bad Or they already know it's good news but are pissed that they lost their job and that she obviously won't care about them either. She loses either way. While Elisabeth was wished a happy birthday by everyone and people were sad to see her go (despite the shitty present by Harvey, an old cook book in French that he found somewhere, not the best meal for a slim fitness expert), the crew liked her.

Gah I just adore this movie, literally everything is great. Every beat, every visual, very reference to other horror films just perfect. Absolutely my current fave horror film Ngl the ending is so great and feels so necessary to complete its statement. Also just wow on that statement, I have not seen something more strong in its message and the delivery of said message. Some would say it’s on the nose but honestly I feel like we need to have it that obvious cause idk if Hollywood would be able to see it at this stage if it wasn’t. Just at the baby steps towards progress with the treatment of women and beauty standards atm. (Also just beauty standards in general those things are entirely unrealistic but it is significantly more pushed on women which sucks big time.) Anyways uhm I’ve rambled enough, absolutely adore this one. I’ve watched it four times already and will be watching it many more cause the body horror is so good :3
