Minecraft Tutorial: How to build a small fountain

A short tutorial about a small fountain design.
Short tutorial cuz I'm still on vacation, so I can't really record quite well at the moment.

I had been trying to find a simple yet aesthetic water fountain fro my nordic village revamping and this was PERFECT. all other tutorials are either too intricate or too simplistic which can mess with the flow of the build. Awesome work!!

If you want top slabs, you need to attach them to the top of an already existing block, so just place a random object above the place you want your slab to go, place the slab underneath it and destroy the block. Voila - top slab. Apparently, there is also a mod that allows you to place top slabs, which is a lot more convenient, so if you're building lots of stairs or roofs out of slabs, I recommend looking for it :) . I hope that helped!

just make a couple tweaks to it. That's what i did, and although it isn't exactly like this, it still looks good! instead of putting the half slabs on the fourth block layer (because they can't be placed in the upper position on a block if placed on the side of a block), i just put whole blocks around it. then, i put another block on top of those blocks to make the correct pathway for the water, and bang! it works just fine! hope that helped!

For creative mode; put a half-slab down on the underside of a block. Then remove the half-slab from your inventory. Next click with your scroll wheel (or whatever you have set for mouse button 3) on the 'top-slab' you just placed down so it adds the half-slab back to your inventory with the quick select thing implemented into the game. Now because you got the block from a 'top-slab' rather than a 'bottom-slab' you will place 'top-slabs' with that half-slab in your inventory.

You're probably clicking on the wrong area of the block. When you stick a slab to a block, it doesn't go wherever you expect it to. It just shows up on which half you click. So if you want to put the slabs on the upper halves of the blocks, just make sure you click on the upper region of the block, not just anywhere.

You can, you must place a block between the 2 blocks and under the block the slab, then you remove the blocks that it will be like the fountain he made

it's possible in the 'new' versions (since 1.3.1 I think...) just place a half slab next to a block but aim the upper half of it :) Hope I could help you ^^

Ok, just to point out something, Xbox is in Beta 1.7ish version. PC is going onto 1.3 full release, which adds new blocks, new mechnics, and Still has a huge modding comnity.

Top slabs and bottom slabs are the same thing. You just place "top" slabs on the top ½ of the block. Bottom slabs are placed on the bottom ½ of the block.
