watching this in 2023 and it is painful. The absolute skill is fantastic! All of this is so much easier now and your video is still relevant. I've been playing for the last 8 years and I have watched a lot of changes over that time. New content, new wood types, etc. I will be attempting this build in my small Taiga village with spruce and cobblestone. (also I will be adding a ship in the water next to town)

Get the rotation key mod. Even if you are not into mods this one is an absolute must. I was almost ready to stop playing over this single issue of placing logs but this one saved the day as all logs are default facing up unless you press the rotation key!

Awesome video and building. I am so glad I finished when I did. My internet went all wonky right after I finished and killed the video, so it needs to load again which can take a while. My computer hates KZbin and because of this, it officially took me about a week to make this and a couple weeks to make the Tower. Anyway, it's awesome. @Madness64 You could always middlemouse click on the vertical log to select it. That way you'll always place down a vertical facing log and you'd have no problems with sideways facing logs when making the framework.

I think it looks AMAZING!! I also use John Smith which looks superb. Tip for Texture packs: you need the latest MC patcher otherwise certain blocks will be messed up. Sometimes they are on fire, have the nether portal swirly purple thingy, or words show up instead of block design.

To help with the turning logs issue, it's all about where u place the block now, with the new update your blocks have different places to hit depending on which way you want the log to face. So just practice on the location on which you hit it. Hope this helps :)

The logs always place with the rings facing you. In order to place normal logs, just place them while above the block that it "rests" on and aim the cursor at the center of the block that you are putting the wood on top of.

I saw your video description said you were going to add Survival mode Item lists. I counted every block you placed up till you replaced random floor tiles, and didn't count all the interior furniture work, but the base building up to furnace, anvil and crucibles are as follows. Wood Blocks: 211 Cobblestone: 61 Wool: 48 Cobblestone Stairs: 24 Wood Stairs: 151 Wood Planks: 28 Wood Slabs: 105 Stone Bricks: 38 Stone Brick Stairs: 28 Crucibles: 2 Iron Bars: 5 Glass Panes: 12 Buttons: 8 Furnace: 1

+TheBruce96 Yeah, I ended up needing to rebuild my road system because the entrance was on the wrong side. It would also be helpfull if he said how much space it requires (like for example 10x20 blocks)

how to fix the issue of the logs: get your server to have a better connection. they need 4 or 5 bars on the server select screen to work well. just like blocks like to disappear then reappear when you place them on 3 bars or below.
