Hopefully, you're engaged in active voter registration and pushing other folks hard to get registered and vote. Anytime I watch on television the Rev. Dr. William Barber and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis of the Poor People's Campaign hold an event, march, or rally in Tennessee it doesn't seem like a lot of people are there given Tennessee's critical social and economic issues. Tennessee voting for vouchers will eventually flip some voters. Here in NC we’ve had vouchers. It backfired horribly for republicans. The best private schools opted out. And then the private schools are not required to provide transportation so if you and your spouse both work your family is ineligible. You pay for other people’s kids to go to private school but your kids are not allowed. Last year in NC more than 90% of the students using school vouchers had never attended a public school. It was a handout to people whose kids were already in private school. It hurt everyone else by gutting public schools even more.

Whenever politicians focus their time on banning free speech for some but not for others it means those politicians don't know how to focus on the real issues. Affordable housing, job and business growth, affordable health care, sustainable infrastructure, public safety, education and skills growth, you know finding ways to create an environment to put more money in the pockets of the people to create the opportunities to build a better community and place to live. I don't live in Tennessee, but I do live in the south and what I see happening in the southern states is abhorrent and thoroughly un-American. They are certainly revisiting the principles of the old Confederacy. Suppressing voices that seek to dissent on the things they are doing is unacceptable. Those laws should never stand up as Constitutional in our Supreme Court but with the justices we currently have, who the heck knows what they will do.
