I LOVE!!!!!! seeing young people now in 2024 absolutely "GETTING IT" about Madonna. Back in the day this was one of may favorite live performance of hers, and people would often ask me: Why do you like her so much? I´d often tell them "it is the energy she transmits" and they would look at me like I was from mars. So to see that almost 40 years later, her performances still energize those who watch it, makes me feel good!!!!

This was the first time a female singer had ever went on a major, mega world tour like this. She really proved that the ladies could pull it off just as well as the men!

Years ago, I got to meet the costume designer Marlene Stewart when she came into the vintage clothing store where I worked. I was thrilled I got to tell her that the "U can Dance" jackets were one of my favorite things ever! I think one big difference in older concerts is the absence of the giant video screens. While they are definitely a cool element and give added dimension to a show, without them it relies solely on the performers (and old skool theatrical elements like lighting + costumes) to create the atmosphere.

I remember that I became a Madonna fan in 1990. I wanted to see her in London when the BAT visitor Wembley Station for three shows but I was going to be on holiday with my mum and dad at that time. I had to settle for listening to the Saturday night show that was broadcast live with no delay on BBC radio 1. During this Friday show she had said the F word a couple of times so she was told by the radio 1 producers to please not swear during the live broadcast. This was of course like showing a red rag to a bull because she ended up swearing 27 times in two minutes! 😂😂 I remember buying this tour on VHS during that holiday and watching it repeatedly. Its a great show and a really strong stage presence considering that this was her first world tour. This was the first time that she had played a full show outside of North America. Just a little thing. In 1993 Radio 1 announced that she was going to be doing a show at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 25th September and guess what I was going to be on holiday again! Thank God when they said that because the Saturday show had sold out in 45 minutes she would also now be doing a second show on Sunday 26th September. My friend and I managed to get tickets. We live in Scotland but we were flying back into England on the morning of the 26th so god bless my mum and dad they drove us to Wembley Stadium and dropped us off outside. So that was our first time at Wembley stadium which felt so exciting because we had seen it on Live Aid and the Freddie Mercury tribute concert but we were actually there. Of course our first Madonna concert as well. I don't think that I will ever forget that night because it all felt so special. We got an extra treat as well because Radio 1 were there. Rather than risk broadcasting another swear fest they recorded our show on the Sunday night and broadcast it later in the Year, with a few F words edited out! Haha As this little clip shows she always puts every part of her into her shows and performances. Even during the Celebration Tour even though the choreography was dialled down obviously she still danced and sang live and looked she was having a ball doing it. I think after her brush with death that she really decided to just enjoy the Celebration shows as much as possible. She also seemed to be getting a real kick out of seeing all her fans just having the best time. ❤❤

Such a great review! It really took me back. I was at this tour in Toronto, at the CNE grandstand. I believe my ticket cost $28. I still have the ticket stub in a shoebox in my closet. I was right up front, and at one point, I swear Madonna looked right at me and smiled. 😁 My friend loved that pink fringed jacket so much, that I created it for her for her next birthday. I studded and fringed a vintage leather jacket by myself. It turned out really well, and she wore it every day. Instead of the wording on the back, there was an image of Madonna. She still has this jacket, and has started wearing it again. She says it’s back in style. I can’t believe this was almost 40 years ago. I am so old. But at least I am old enough to have gone to this concert live! I don’t believe all concerts had this much enthusiasm and energy like you stated. Most people just stood in front of a microphone, and singing while the band played behind them. There were only a few acts I recall had matched this type of energy, and that was MJ and Prince. If you’ve ever been to a Prince concert, the man would wear you out. Omg… I miss Prince so much. Ty for this review. I really enjoyed this. ♥️

THE energy. THE joy. THE Madonna. This is the end of the show too and she still had this much energy. Incredibly, unbelievable and forever unmatched. She isn't there for the money. Performing and being the star is like oxygen to her. That's why she looks so overjoyed. Love her.

It’s definitely not the end! She still had three amazing performances left: La Isla Bonita, Who's That Girl, and a phenomenal Holiday that leaves the audience absolutely ecstatic.

After the intense Live to Tell, Madonna starts singing the opening lines, 'You can dance, you can dance if you want to…get into the groove,' as the music builds around her 🎶✨. Chris Finch and the backup singers join her on stage, all wearing striking black leather jackets with colorful accents inspired by Andy Warhol’s art 🎨🖤. A young boy brings a jacket for Madonna, which she playfully puts on as they walk along the conveyor belt 🧥➡. Into the Groove, the iconic track from Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), kicks off with a high-energy choreography bursting with power and color 💃🌈. Madonna, along with her dancers and backup singers, radiates pure energy on stage 🔥. The extended instrumental bridge, driven by powerful keyboards 🎹, fills the arena, and at one point, Madonna and the entire cast join hands to take a deep bow-a final farewell, though everyone knows the show is far from over 🙌🎉. This extended version of Into the Groove lasts an epic 12 minutes ⏳.

OMG, I was 15 yrs old when I watched the TV Live broadcast from Italy. It was the coolest thing ever and the Italian audience was wild. In the 80ies there were no floor seats (at least in Europe). People stood there for hours and if I remember correctly there were 65.000 people in the stadium.

the jackets were designed by Andy Warhol himself.yes a treadmill... Tina Turner had just completed the Break Every Rule Tour before Madonna launched her Who's That Girl Tour. Tina could sell out stadiums everywhere but the US. Madonna became and until 2016 the only woman to sell out world stadium tours. This tour was the first tour to sell out multiple nights at Wembley Stadium. No its not her kid his name is Christopher Finch and hes gay and yes he loved it and still talks about it and yes the jackets together say u can dance except hers which has it all
