yeah I know its mind blowing how people knocked this performance...First and foremost they need to remember that she was singing songs recorded and written by another artists (which she never sang before) in his honour. No matter what singer comes out who is famous for their voice, can never do it or sound like the original singer of that song. Her performance was very moving. She had tears in her eyes and thats what its all about in the tribute when someone dies. Madonna is not a typically great vocalist, but she is a great singer. She puts her stamp on every piece she does. She isn't Whitney Houston or Beverly Sills, but she wasn't meant to be and never intended to be. She has a good voice, which she has developed and she has GREAT pathos and inflection. She can sing a song and deliver it with powerful purpose, empathy and intent. She never needed to be Aretha Franklin or Whitney of that age. Is she the greatest vocalist ever? No. But I felt every word she was singing, very emotional and she meant every word. It came straight from her heart. Music shouldn't be about perfection and hitting every note right there's beauty in the imperfections of it and it should be about connection.

in this time of age people who expres their critisism are called "haters", giving them a picture of a bitter person. it scares me to see so many people actually liking this kind of performance. blinded by fame they don't seem to realise that this "act" is pure blasphemy to a real artist like prince. just another "sign o'the times" I guess. don't worry prince, we outside of the mainstream still respect your work and would never dare to butcher your songs publicly like these two did.

@@dvandeun Really it's idol worship-engrained in the human animal somehow. Superheroes, Pharoahs, Emporers, actors, rock stars!. Everyone knows the songs Yesterday, but do they know a more radical innovation called Tomorrow Never Knows? Na. Just stick with the worship-of-obvious- safe in the idea that, in sheer volume of numbers, the veracity of so called artistic merits!
@AutomatikSystematik6 жыл бұрын
I don't understand where all the criticism comes from. People just need to lighten up already and let it flow. This wasn't a singing contest or a talent show. It was, I thought, a very touching tribute to Prince, the music legend. Madonna and Stevie didn't sing their best but it wasn't about that. It was about remembering Prince. I'm also a perfectionist vocalist/musician and I loved it.

Nothing Compares 2 U It's been seven hours and fifteen days Since you took your love away I go out every night and sleep all day Since you took your love away Since you've been gone I can do whatever I want I can see whomever I choose I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant But nothing, I said nothing can take away these blues 'Cause nothing compares Nothing compares to you It's been so lonely without you here Like a bird without a song Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling Tell me, baby, where did I go wrong? I could put my arms around every boy I see But they'd only remind me of you I went to the doctor and guess what he told me? Guess what he told me? He said: Girl, you better try to have fun No matter what you do But he's a fool 'Cause nothing compares Nothing compares to you All the flowers that you planted, baby, in the backyard All died when you went away I know that living with you, baby, was sometimes hard But I'm willing to give it another try 'Cause nothing compares Nothing compares to you Nothing compares Nothing compares to you 2X Purple Rain I never meant to cause you any sorrow I never meant to cause you any pain I only wanted to one time to see you laughing I only wanted to see you Laughing in the purple rain Purple rain, purple rain 3X I only wanted to see you Baby in the purple rain Purple rain, purple rain 3X I only wanted to see you Starling in the purple rain Purple rain, purple rain 3X I only wanted to see you Dancing in the purple rain
