Let's give credit where it's due: Prince didn't write "Jungle Love" or "The Bird." While his name might appear on the credits (with Morris and Jesse Johnson), both songs were written exclusively by Time guitarist Jesse Johnson. It's not uncommon that when a bandleader/producer records a song they didn't write, the songwriter of that song has to give the one running the show "a taste"--in this case, Jesse had to share a portion of the songwriter credit with Prince...

Morris and Jerome. Thank you for bringing soul to the Phoenix Arizona desert, when I was in High school. It was Prince, Vanity 6, Morris Day and the Time. Little did you know. Seeing all of you made famous history with my brother and I. All the way to the movie industry and the White House. And just to think, some friends and family. Made fun of us for loving all of you. They are speechless now. I remember being told, " Turn that mess off."! Many times when playing my records, LOL. Now the elders say, I'm sorry. They were talented people. Referring to Prince, Morris Day & Time, Vanity 6. God bless you Morris/Jerome, Prince, and Denise Matthew, and Vanity 6 band group.
