I remember the Airlines Hotel when we lived in Madras. The Sylks mow Savoy Hotel is still a beautiful heritage hotel in Ooty, now owned by The Taj Group.

Fascinating episode, Sriram. Never knew of this connection of Madras to aviation. Only one minor observation: His first name is most likely pronounced "Jee-a-como" not "Gee-a-como". - as it is to this day.
