the quest to the pally and warlock q for the mount back then was not soloable back then you have to get a party to do the mount q back in vanilla so that was a lot talking in lfg chanle back then to get ppl to help you

@Erin Joyce Exactly. I don't mind that they were given away in the later versions of the game. I just don't think that you should devalue the hard work of old school players by giving away the same version of the mount. Blizzard reskins the same mounts all the time, all they had to do was reskin 2 mounts and there would have been no problems at all.

Hi, i hope you you will read this. So, just any warlock was able to talk to already summoned spirit and get a mount or you would need to have last quest just without need to summoning horse youreself and spend gold to that goblin?

14 years later I still remember the moment I finally got the dreadsteed. Also still remember the moment I got my first epicloot. It felt so goddamn epic. Last time I played (2 years ago) epicloot was just a small upgrade, nothing special at all. Just like you said, just purple, nothing more. And epicmounts? Nothing special either. It's not even really special to be roaming around on some rare mount

Funny story: while everyone struggled with getting their epic mounts, i just casually won a roll for Rivendare's charger for my undead mage. I swear, the moment the dungeon ended i rushed to the trainer and didn't even think twice before paying 800 gold which was a fortune back then. Funny thing is i almost declined that party invite because i wanted to pvp...

I got it with me DK but... 4 years of farming with my Warrior and it never dropped. Hit level 70 with my DK alt and FIRST Time I went into Strath the damn thing dropped. No shared mounts back then

I remember when I first start playing WoW, i had a paladin and the first time that I walked by Stormwind. There were 3 paladins with epic mounts and I promised myself that I would do whatever it took to get my epic mount. I had no idea how hard it was going to be. I did eventually do it by looking up how to do the quest but it was an expensive and I had a guild who helped me out. it was great to complete it but I would not do that again today. Eventually Paladins were just given the epic mount by asking. Update: I began playing WoW classic and had to do this quest again for the Paladin mount but this time I had much better money making ways as an herbalist / alchemist so I was making more money than back in Vanilla. It was still satisfying when the quest chain was over and I have the mount again.

My first 60 was an undead warlock. My second 60 was a human paladin. Life was good back then. 😊 Funfact: my warlock would make extra gold by doing summoning runs. People would pay me 100g rather than buy the reagents themselves.

So did I. In my guild I was 1 of 3 warlocks going into MC and the only one that could make the time consistently. During the first month, hours and hours each week of trying to kill bosses warlock gear was dropping like crazy and I was the only warlock usually. I was first to get full T1 and was topping the dps chart for months after. Warlocks were heavily overlooked back then. It was nice to see them grow the next few years.

I would like to explain something. I started my 1st character in december 2004, a warlock. If you never played one back then, you may not know, but warlocks had the most stupid class quests back then. By that i meant, there was a LOT of travel included, not to mention that most quests only gave very vague references to where the items you were looking for were... Think of every warlock quest as a "Mankrik's wife" quest but with traveling all around the world. Don't get me wrong, the quests were awesome, i love them for how complex they were, how hard and time consuming they were too... So that free mount at level 40 felt like some sort of apology from Blizzard for all the work we had to go tru the previous levels, just to unlock our pets... Yes back then, pets werent given to you... at level 10 you had to do the voidwaker quest, in Elwyn Forest for Alliance... not big deal... but starting from level 20 for the succubus, you had to travel all around the glove, from SW to IF to Ratchet to Barrens to Ashenvale... It was ridicoulus and often took hours to find the npc or the location of the item you needed to loot... Hunters in the other hand could just tame any pet anywhere... And the demon quests werent the only class quests...

Except hunters had to deal with training a specific ability to their main pet from acquiring others to use that ability on mobs a few times for them to be unlocked to teach to your main pet afterward. It was also time consuming. And also the fact of keeping up with their loyalty bonuses/cons. You *could* just do the lazy/smart thing and level yourself up with your base pet til max then go and tame another with those already higher ranked abilities. Also some rares had special abilities which proved very beneficial in PvP/PvE. Each class had their pros and cons to be honest, to assume it was "simply a tame" is not a good point. Tidbit, class specific quests were also applicable to majority, Druids for their forms, Shamans for totems, Rogues had those skill ups for poisons and lockpicking...etc

@@curiousfishie Yeah pets are a lot complex than "do ability on meat stick and ur good for 60 levels with your dps stick". Every few levels you have to get upgraded abilities for your current pet. Have Bite 1 and need Bite 2? You have to tame a creature with Bite 2 and use the pet until you actually learn the ability permanently. And this applies to EVERY creatures' class ability(s). Different classes of pets had pros and cons. Cats are high damage dealers but have low armor, and Bears have high health but deal low damage. Creatures you can tame also have different attack speeds. If you wanted the pet with the highest attack speed in the game, then it took a mountain of luck and time. Broken Tooth, a rare spawn cat in the Badlands, has a 1.0 attack speed. This cat, when killed or tamed, has a 6-8 hour respawn timer. This meant you either had to spend HOURS on end camping the spawn points or just one day have to get lucky and maybe come across him with a run through the Badlands. Even using the "run through the Badlands everyday for few minutes to check" strategy, you may NEVER get Broken Tooth.

@@rceolin8189 Felwood had a quest at lvl 50 for a robe, a staff or a trinket to summon your voidwaker without needing a soulshard. Also a quest to lern to summon your own infernal. At 60, there was also a few quests there, part of the chain to get your epic mount, specificaly you needed to infiltrate Jaedenar to get some duts from the demon world of Xoro'th to use it in the creation of the scroll that would summon the Dreadsteed in Dire Maul :)

There was a bug you didn't mention in this video sadly. There was an exploit that Rogues could do all the way up until Wrath where you could get the blood knight tabard. It was also awarded from the level 50 quest chain going into blackrock depths and doing their class missions to get a helmet as a reward. Gamon used to walk around old Orgrimmar and everyone would kill him. As a Paladin there was a part where you had to talk to him to get a letter to learn where the shipments are. If you were a Rogue, you could skip the entirety of the quest chain and just get the letter by distracting Gamon and then pick pocketing him. It would activate the quest and you would then go into blackrock depths and do the quest as if you were a paladin. And also turn it into the paladin quest giver. He would then do his RP and give you the blood knight tabard. The funniest part is they tried to "fix" the exploit by making the tabard class restricted in LOLOLOLOLegion. If you were remove the tabard in the legion expansion, or didn't, for some reason, have it equipped and legion was released, you can never equip it ever again. Just for a bit of proof too, worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/baelgun/unknowndemon is my armory for my Rogue. Bit of a nice throwback as well! Nice video! :)

I will always have great memories of the Warlock mount quest. My warlock was my first alt. I slowly earned the gold and did the quests to get all of the mats required for the final step in Dire Maul. Given the dungeons back at that time and the time requirement for the questing, I was hesitant to even ask my guild for help. They were a tight-knit group and was rather new to the guild. I timidly asked if anyone would be willing to help and was astounded that our guild main tank, healer, and tenured geared folks jumped at the opportunity to help. We trekked out to Dire Maul, made our way to the summoning chamber and tamed the mount. The genuine enthusiasm to help and the sincerity of their congratulations will keep the etched forever in my mind. Good times and great memories. And it's still one of the finest mount models in the game IMO - quite a feat considering its age and how far we've come in mount models.

Man I get more and more flashbacks reading comments here. I was just a fresh 60 when I rerolled from a hunter because I wanted in the top guild, not because of epix, but because they were the most competent and feared. The heroes of any random large scale open world pvp. And like in your story the main tank and healer helped me out and it felt amazing to have this insanely good group help you out because you know how much harder those dungeons usually were with random people (even if competent and helpful themselves, most people were super nice and patient back then) but just no as geared and coordinated like your top guild. And it made you so proud being part of it, then slaying your first dragon, posing as a fresh 60 with your epic mount, helping others, making your name on the server. Like you would just insta win BG's if a random group saw even half your guild present. Good times. Some of the best waste of time of my life.

Then one if them bring into the game a very obnoxius guy who wanted to be piggybacked all the way to end of the quest (he also used those chinese farming services). He ignored when i told him that he needed to bring a lot of soul stones. And when he couldnt end the quest guess who was pissed off with whom?

Oh, I remember the druid one! Or rather, not getting to do it :( All throughout TBC I heard of that quest, and was looking forward to finally getting to do a new druid quest. And you get an awesome new form out of it too. I was hyped. Problem is I was a slow leveler, and by the time I finally got the appropriate level, the next expansion had rolled out. So I strolled up to the flight instructor (thinking I'd get the quest from them), being confused when i saw I could just train it but what the heck, maybe that's how you start the quest? Nope. I was so disappointed.

no. Noone wants to remember the call to water quest. Most worthless running ever. And it wasn't even exploring.. u had to go into ashenvale, which you would go 3-4 lvls later, u had to go to tauren mill, which you would go 5-7 lvls later, and the most interesting was the one behind the selpucher.. and u had to go to the barrens for each one of them . It was basically a worthless 1 and a half hour running with ghost wolf and riding the flight path while eating cheetos.

I remember getting my lock mount in TBC. A friend i met in game helped me get it. I was so excited when I summoned it for the first time. Man what a feeling :) . If your rep was high enough, idr which faction, the total cost was 1200g. A lot of gold back then but man was the end result worth it

Remember doing all this in TBC, such good times really. It was hard, yes. But that was the awesome thing about it. If it's easy to get, it destroys the pride. Like the things in Legion, there is some examples of that kind of farm aswell. Like the 3rd Artifact Weapon, it feels so great to achieve that! :D

Tha mats for the lock mount quest changed in TBC. The vanilla mats are 35 Black Dragonscales 25 Dark Iron Ore 6 Large Brilliant Shards 10 Elixirs of Shadow Power 3 Arcanite Bars Also interesting that J'eevee's Jar costs 300g in your footage, but as you rightly say it did cost 150g.

When the warlock quest came out the items to complete it were very expressive, back then at least. Me and 2 other warlocks put our gold together and I bought the items. We then got a warrior and priest and did it in the middle of the night. With that group set up it was tough. We were all noobs and spent a good hour wiping. But still... Vanilla was the best of times.

I did that exact trick on my warlock. I had met a warlock who had gotten most of the quests out of the way but didn't have the potions or arcane bar, and I happened to be be an alchemist with both those recipies. We banded together and got both of ours together. Fun memories

I played a Lock and my cousin played a Pally and we helped each other do these quests back in the day. The memories!! I have all the ritual items in my bank to this day on my warlock although i've since transferred servers and started maining a shaman. I kinda think I didn't have enuf gold at the time to buy the item from the demon and had to go farm and do that shit again lol. But i made that money back a few times over selling the ritual to other locks!! Thank god we have icy-veins, wowhead and etc this day and age lol. I miss those early days when the EK and Kali felt like these huge worlds to travel and explore.

I was able to do the Paladin quest-line, I admit I do miss these kind of chains, even tough they were a pain. Are they a feat of strengtht? They should. Getting out of Scholomance and summon your mount after all that was awesome. I remember my guild-mates around me, who helped me with this :).

By far the best day i had in WoW, i was the first on my server to get the epic pally mount and in the proces of obtaining it, i looted 'Destiny' epic two-handed sword. Man i was one proud Paladin. Good times.

For the Warlock epic mount, at 8:33, the amounts of some of the materials you listed are incorrect. You need 10 Elixir of Shadow Power, 35 Black Dragon Scale, and 3 Arcanite Bars. You have the correct amounts listed for the Dark Iron Ore (25), and Large Brilliant Shards (6). I think the amounts of the materials required was reduced in TBC. I did the paladin one in tbc and it made me want to kill myself, I also thought it was the only mount the paladins could use (asides from the 60% one), I learned the truth right after I completed the quest.

My first ever character was a druid back in BC. Doing 4 separate quest chains to get(in order) bear form, aquatic form, travel form, and then cat form made me quit the class. (Never got high enough to do the flying quest chains). Bear form was so weak back then, aquatic form was only for fringe benefits, travel form was just ease of life, and when i finally got cat form ( the form that made me want to play the class) felt so meh. I was doing more damage with moonfire and wrath in caster form then i would in cat form with only mangle and ferocious bite.

Same and I remember the Blood elf quest to get resurection where you go kick the shit out of another initiate kill him and then drain the the holy power from Mu'ru and resurrect the guy you had just killed. Then the level 20 one where it starts out with you fighting 5 other Blood Knight champions. Good times. I miss the old Class quests they were so much better then the current ones. Did both of them in vanilla. I remember the Paladin mount was a pain in the ass, because you had to essentially get a normal group to clear to the basement as 5 paladins could not do it (you needed 5 paladins in the basement) and then the 5 paladins had to have all kinds of judgements or something like that because these ghosts were only killable by specific judgements. But yeah it was a pain to get the group together to clear for you and it was a pain to find paladins willing to help you. I was lucky though as i was a guild leader i was able to get guildies to help me and a paladin that had done the quest helped me find the other paladins to do it. He then made me promise to help another paladin do his quest in the future like he had helped me lol because the paladins knew what a bitch of a quest that was.

I did this quest in 2005 as a priest with 3 paladins (2 rets 1 prot), and absolutely they could do it without a 'clear party'. For one thing paladins love undead instances, and at the time warriors were alot rarer and 95% of the time we used paladin tanks in 5mans.

I managed to get my Dreadsteed when I first started during late TBC. I wasn't level 70 yet and I wound up using basically all of the money I gained from questing and anything else just to afford it. I spent *hours* in Dire Maul just trying to get to the point where we could fight the boss and somehow we just barely beat it on the first try. We wiped just as the boss summoning ritual ended, but since it *did* finish, we got to kill the boss and I got my steed before I was done questing in Hellfire Peninsula.

I hit 60 on my Paladin the week after BC released. I wasn't able to get the quest for my charger done in the time period between the time I reached 60 and the time I got BC. It was a slow process now that many players were already coasting through Hellfire Peninsula and I was struggling to get the Arcanite bars needed.

I remember grinding Felcloth for 4 days to get my hunters 100% speed mount and thought Pallies and Locks were so lucky to get a free mount. Until I levelled a Pally and did it myself. Like you say, it wasn't easy or cheap. Luckily I had in game friends to help me. I still love my 100% speed mount on my Pally though, and still use my Epic mount on my hunter out of principle lol. Omg, so many times I saw general chat flooded with back and forth on these mounts... "You get a free mount!" "Free my ass, our quests are insane and expensive!" And then everyone and their mom putting in their say, and on and on it went. I never cared, honestly. Yeah, the grind for mounts was insane, but everyone was grinding for shit. Every class had some kind of bonus, theirs was the lvl 40 mounts (I don't see the epics as a bonus, it was hard work) so I think it all balanced out. And gold was really hard to come by back then. 100 and 1000g was a massive amount. (Usually less because of rep, but not by much) and now you get mounts at 20 and no more crazy quests. Okay. But damn, we EARNED our mounts, back in the day. Does that mean I want to wait until lvl 40 ever again for a mount? Oh, hell no. But I'm proud of my first mounts (and I was on my 60% mount for a long time after hitting 60, as were most folks)

I was the second Warlock on my server (Dunemaul Horde) with the Epic 60 mount. OMG I was worshiped like a god. I remember it was so hard getting people together to do the quests with me. Warlocks were Weak AF back in vanilla, useless other than banish or portals. I switched to Priest and never looked back after I kept being told they didn't need a warlock in the MC raids, not a single warlock was ever wanted unless someone had to leave, I was always told to sit in Vent and wait to be called even though i would show up 30 mins early to raid! I said screw all of that and went Priest. Geared up in a month's time! lol I have 2 priests because of it.

I was almost kidnapped and forced to go raiding, because they needed warlocks in MC to banish Garr adds and in general banish earth elementals in those harder trash packs. And we always wanted 3-4 warlocks, although we had more mages.. It was good to be warlock

So even though gold is alittle easier these days.. It sure still is expensive to get the mount. I bought all reagents needed. in total i used around 750G for the mount and alot of time. So yeah 250G saved. I could have saved 250 if i didn't buy the last three reagents. But that said. It is truely rewarding as a warlock to ride a mount, that only warlocks have.

One time I was logging off my lock just as a msg in our combined guilds' chat channel[did joint MC/Ony] popped up...summat like killed dreadsteed if any locks wanna come get it. FUCK IVE NEVER RELOGGED FASTER....Asked in chan if offer was open still, they said yea. They inv'd me, i got my arse to DM at taxi and 40% mount...Got there and a warr from that other guild was outside but not in party....He said here im openin, he did i was like woah ty lots etc, he said np, i went in, followed the arrows, ghost dreadsteed was there with the yellow ?....Went right up, talked, got mount and was like ty loads, ever need a hand, thanks for bloody waitin so long, they were seemingly Aussie with the no worries... I thanked em again and said i had to go do the obvious, ran back out, mounted up my unshiny evil mwahaha mount, all in view of the warr who was still by the door.. thanked him and the party some more and did some laps...later did plenty around org and uc.... With recalling all that I had some sorta nostalgia and oldschool sheer helpfulness aneurysm lol

Oh, for goodness sake, I had forgotten that we got the second warlock mount from Lord Hel'Nurath way back then. Now, once you've obtained your Warlock mount in Legion, you can go and kill Lord Hel'Nurath on Broken Shore and get a 100% drop Warlock Mount that is an amazingly beautiful beast. Of course you can also buy another Warlock mount from Calydus as well, making it FIVE mounts devoted to Warlocks altogether.

One of my favorite memories from WoW was the level 60 Pally mount quest, he was my first 60. I found a group of 4 other paladins looking to finish the quest, so we 5 man holy hand grenaded through Scholo. Because the spirit waves could only be killed by the correct judgement of a seal, having more pallies made it that much easier. Good times.

I dunno if anyone mentioned this, but at 8:30 I believe those reagents were the REDUCED cost later introduced in The Burning Crusade. In Vanilla you needed like 35 scales, 10 large brilliant shards, like 5 or 6 arcanite and like 10 or 20 more ore. Either way, minor detail. Great video though.

Correction: There was no apprentice riding back then. You didn't even need a riding skill for mounts that didn't specifically require them. So for example you can ride AV mount with no mount skill at all and you can ride your races both 60 and 100% mounts with for example undead horsemanship,which costs something like 16 gold.

The 40 mount was free but the 60 mount was pure pain. 8hr quest chains and cost well over 1k gold
