From my perspective, Mads, I enjoyed this "longer" video; please don't apologize for its length. I would love to see more videos like this one. I thoroughly enjoy watching you walk through the landscape to find compositions, listening to your thought process, and seeing the finished product. There is one thing that I would very much wish that you would do, and that is to show the settings you used with each photo you presented. Seeing those settings -- aperture, shutter speed, and ISO -- would give me, and your viewers, a fuller understanding of how you captured the image. Thank you for producing your inspirational videos.

Very sound advice and something we can all take away and adapt for our own outings . Thanks again for some great advice . We may know it when we see it , but this is the value of having us reminded of these things. And for those who have not yet tried or felt under-welcomed by our past failures to be encouraged to have another go. We learn best after all by understanding our failures and using good advice to correct and amend those errors . Practice will then make perfect . Thanks again for another well provoking video .

All the times I visited Copenhagen for work and I never got to see the beauty of Denmark. Your videos are inspirational but also much needed to help through these difficult times and helping me look forward to planning my bucket list of trips for the future. Seven great tips, beautiful music, your fun personality, stunning scenery and your amazing photos. Thank you Mads.

There's nothing wrong with long episodes as long as you keep the subject interesting, which you nailed. Loving your work so far.

You are so spot on with the people who state as fact that it's better to just enjoy the scene rather than taking photos. Odds are these are people whose skill level isn't to the point where their photo matches their memory of the scene. For me almost every scenic photo I have taken immediately brings the entire scene and situation back to my mind. I would not have those regular reminders if I had merely watched things happen. The other funny thing is that without fail, when I am with such people (somehow they are never at sunrise LOL) I point out so many details that surprise them. They clearly would have never seen them.

I think you have mastered how to capture the minimalist image. A simple sunrise, and a small boat on a glass sea, fantastic. Excellent vlog to watch or just listen. Was it to long ?, certainly not for me. Thanks for sharing again Mads.

Loved the boat shots Mads, so tranquil. I think a mix of video lengths works well. If i was in a bit of a rush I wouldn't have just watched this episode but I was having some lunch between editing some photos so I put it on. I agree you don't need to shoot in manual but I think you should know how to do it as there are certain situations where it comes in useful. I also agree with you totally on the HDR item, you can get an 'HDR look' out of pretty much any photo if you set out to in editing!

I had to laugh a bit, when you said that Nationalpark Thy is a massive area..... for us in Denmark it is big,- but compared to some of the BIG places in the world, it is just a parking lot...... but Thy is awesome. The coastline of the Western Sea and the wind..... love it. Take care. Mojn.

Hello Mads. First of all: Thank you so much for this great video and this "special" content. I think these myths are still there and there much more of them. For example: Good photographers, like you, always shoot a magical photo. In my oppinion there are many people out there, who don't know how many time, the long planing, the scouting and the effort photographers you've to invest in just one good shot. When you're on location - oh no - the forecast is wrong.....all that kind of stuff. So thank you for telling the truth and keep on with you're videos. I feel, that photography - for you - is more than just a job. It's your passion - so keep on. Thank you.

Myth 1 depends on the background because of the way our cameras measure light. When I am at the Runde island trying to photograph birds in flight, the background is either the sky - with or without clouds, an island or the sea. Each of these backgrounds will cause the camera to change its exposure. This is one of the few places where I use manual exposure. Most of my photography is Aperture priority.

25:47 I think if you used a longer lens and did a 1:1 crop than you would have got a very nice & artistic photo. The lines would be more visible and the contrast between the light & dark sides would have had amazing balance. I do quiet enjoy the final image you took in that spot without the harsh light though.

One note. When it comes to aperture or any other mode that the lightmeter chances your exposure, it depends on what area the lightmeter is to look at and take into consideration. If you have spot metering, center metering etc. It works a little different on different cameras aswell :)

Thanks for the video and great photos Mads. Re: more control in Manual mode. Manual mode doesn't give you more control than say Av mode because you can use exposure compensation in Av. But it unbinds you from the in-camera metering. It's a bit easier to use histogram in Manual.
@MadsPeterIversen4 жыл бұрын
True, I am not sure I agree with the histogram part. I think it's equally easy or at least comes down to the knob design of the camera :)

I was thinking about the manual mode vs auto modes the other day. The conclusion I came to was that so long as you know what the settings do, and make the creative decisions for yourself, then it makes no difference at all how you achieve those settings.
@valerievaleriem17694 жыл бұрын
Thoroughly enjoyed this video even though it was longer than usual. There was a lot of drone footage showing the area. Can you tell me if you use aperture priority in your drone or manual when taking a video, as the quality of your videos is outstanding? Perhaps you could do a video at some stage about drone use, and processing of drone video clips etc. By the way I thought the last image was absolutely stunning.

I'm really enjoying seeing some of the different landscapes of Denmark - that's not something that comes up a lot in the States. In regards to print sales, I've always wondered how many prints you can realistically expect to sell off a photography channel when (I assume) most of your viewers are photographers and would prefer to hang up their own work.

Regarding Myth 4: You definitely need to know how to market your photos on whatever platform(s) you use. This marketing is the part no one will teach you on youtube (thank god) because it would hurt their own sales. You need to figure your own ways. That's the best way to do it anyways though because that way you learn a lot.
