Avarekaal Saaru is a staple in my house during this time of the year. I add onions though. But of course, as Mr. Chetan Rao himself said, everyone’s got their own recipe. However, the final product is the same appearance wise. I’d just like to say, if you’re a Karnataka native, and don’t get to have avarekaal Saaru at least once every few days during this time of the year, you’re seriously missing out on a major pleasure of life.🙌🏼 P.S. the same recipe can be used for togarikaal Saaru as well. Samaanya Kaal saargal maadovaaga bele seraskolalla. It just takes away everything from the essence of the kaalu.

Very flavourful recipe. I always feel garam masala and onion garlic will take away the sogadu of avarekalu,especially for sambar and saaru.tomato can also be omitted.
