Love this - it addresses nearly every issue with the RM1 in beautiful fashion. I think this bike make so much sense. The one thing I'd like to see is a bench seat/extended rear frame option to have the option of carrying a passenger or more cargo options.

There are so many haters of electric bikes in the comments. No one is forcing you to buy. Personally, I think these make way more sense than the 20 -30K electric motorcycles. These are meant for the city. They look smart and are easy to charge. They are also British. Why bother with electric bikes at all? Because our government signed us up to net zero by 2050. Don't blame the manufacturers. Blame the politicians if you don't like it.

I bought one. I will say, the motorcycle community is.... protective, at best. Gatekeeping at worst. I'm 35 years old and had never owned a bike. I'm short, I'm skinny. They just didn't fit me. And nobody in the Big Bike industry caters to that. Ask any old guy what his first bike was, he'll say a 125cc or maybe 200 Yamaha or something. They just don't make bikes like that anymore. Even the Honda 125 is 100 lb heavier than its 1970's counterpart. Maeving is coming in with a bike that looks slick as hell, for the young urban professional who wants to get into biking and doesn't feel welcome in Bike Bike land. And it's working for them, because a lot of potential riders have been neglected by the industry.

Kinda cool but just not for me even as a city commuter I'd opt for a Honda Mini-moto (modifed for more power) or a scooter. Or realistically just a CB300 at half the cost or there about. My modified Honda monkey will do 60-65mph and gets 120mpg. 60 mile round trip to work frequently on it.

Options is the point. I'd love this as a second bike. Practically zero maintenance, and practically no degradation if it sits for a while (whereas the fuel in a petrol bike will separate if it sits too long).

I feel sorry for the likes of Toad, Chad, Alex etc for having to review electric bikes. They have to be professional and constructive and fair knowing that the type of bike is not something they would ever buy for the exact same reasons motorcyclists like us wouldn't. It's a tough sell and let's not forget Arc Vector who went into liquidation the other month as their electric bikes never sold.
@TomHalls6 ай бұрын
The RM1 sold pretty well. Enough to justify the RM1S. It doesn't sound like you're the target audience for this particular bike, but that's ok - horses for courses. Creators have to consider their wider audiences - Toad could likely pick up a fair few subs for this given it's the most comprehensive review of the bike I've seen so far - lots of people considering this will hit this video. Tough sell for a bike enthusiast, less so for someone looking at smaller electric cars or with a shorter commute. Clearly a market there based on prior model sales.

From my house in the midlands to the coast and back again is 160 miles. On my honda 650 i can give it some beans and really cruse and it takes 1 and a half hours. On this it would take me over 12 hours. Great concept but these arnt for bikers. They are for city dwellers. People who live outside of citys and like to do over a 100 miles when they go out on their bikes are screwed.. so looks like the family are moving to china as they not doing this silly net zero scam.

that 80 mile range is garbage and you know it. No one ever delivers their stated range. And this may shock you but...some people like to ride for fun and not just to waste $9k for a stupid overpriced commuter bike. This is the problem though, we have people like you making ridiculously bold claims with no evidence to back any of it up. You throw out napkin maths level ‘calculations’ and claim as if buying everything second-hand with no warranty is comparable purchase to buying a built bike by a company that’s put the work in. Most people won’t have the level of expertise to build a bike like that or want a taped together bike like that either.
