Mafex always has better articulation which adds to the possibility and shelf quality, but they do run a bit basic for the paint apps. Thanks for the sweet comparison review!

Everyone has their preference. I'm a big ML fan, but I really prefer the Marvel Select version. I prefer t he body and head sculpts and articulation. Also the size allows it to pose well with 7" lines like MacFarlane Batman figs. I find ML figs to be more durable than the imports. Drop a Mafex you're taking a chance. Drop a ML, you pick it up and go about your business.
@sacrificedplasticАй бұрын
@Steven, Absolutely! This is all a matter of preference. Some people genuinely like ML figures better and that’s fine. The DS one is really nice overall for sure, and the taller scale works better now that there are more and more 7inch figures. Yeah, you definitely have to be a little more careful with import figures. It is nice that the ML figures are cheaper so you can worry about some of them a little less, but they also get loose from the waist down. 🫡👊🤙

16:15 With saying it's missing the straps - so I'm an OG comic fan that stopped buying them in maybe 2000, and I don't have any recollections of Cap dawning any straps and such, other than his belt. My only frame of reference with all that is the movie stuff and figures hasbro has put out. It's like the Rob Liefeld approach with more straps + pouches = cooler design. Not that they look bad per-se, it's just a bit too much, and makes them not look like the quintessential normal looking Cap. This is pretty much a flawless classic Kirby Cap, but I'd love to also see a more modern '90s style (Jim Lee) version. They'd just need to give them different heads, and a new torso with fewer stripes. Make the colouring a bit darker, and *_bam,_* you got a modern look. I'd love to see them give that same treatment to Thor, especially with increasing their size by a lot.
@sacrificedplasticАй бұрын
@Chalor, I brought that up not because of the comic accuracy, but because I’ve gotten a lot of questions regarding strap swaps on my cap videos. And I know a lot people prefer the belt and the shield straps on their caps. Just the versatility would’ve been nice. But for sure, I don’t think I’ve ever seen straps that early. Maybe a belt or some apparatus. But yeah, later caps would be AMAZING, they definitely have some of the pieces already, and maybe they can throw in some Rob style belts, thigh straps, and straps. But for now, I’m with you, I think this is a pretty good Kirby figure. I’m just happy with it. Absolutely. They missed on Thor’s size big time. I would love for them to rerelease a bigger comic Thor. And off that make some modern Thors. God, just talking about this drives me nuts because they take so long to release their figures. 🫡👊🤙

Mafex compared to Marvel Legends should have better detail and accessories for the price difference. Marvel Legends are for all intent is still an action figure for children to play with. Mafex is for the adult collector, I think Hasbro does an excellent job with their product for the price. I do miss Mattel when they had the D.C. Universe figures I have them all and they were the ones who did A,B,C, and D list heroes and villians for you to collect. I wish they would get it back.
@sacrificedplastic6 күн бұрын
@Jon, I think Legends has improved over the last two years but I also think Legends in relation to other companies making figures at or around the same price point has fallen behind. To me the DC Universe Classics line is a great example of a line that put out really good waves and figures consistently during their run, which to me Hasbro hasn’t. Hasbro has put out many good figures but many of their C/D, and even some B, list characters don’t sell well today, they’re not aimed to sell them to people who don’t know about them. Many end up discounted or at discount stores. I’m glad you think they’re excellent, I’m going to continue to push for just a little bit more from them where it’s needed. I agree, I’ve always said that comparing “imports” to “domestic” figures is not fair. However, I did want to tell people my thoughts between all three of these figures because I’ve gotten questions. Absolutely, it would be just amazing for the DC Universe Classics line to make a comeback. It’s really good to know that you have an appreciation for that line and that you have them all! That speaks volumes to me. I have many of them but not all. There are still some out there that I need to track down. 🫡🙏🤙

@@sacrificedplastic I'm glad we could clear up the misunderstanding. I know you were reviewing and comparing the figures pro's and con's I just wanted to clear up the price points difference on why some figures are better ($25.00 vs. $100.00) is big accessory gap. I bought this figure and agree it is probably the best Cap figure so far, but I also paid for that quality vs. Marvel Legends. my figure collection is quite extensive I have collected marvel since toybiz was making them and as with my comics I still have them all it is quite extensive, but the figures have come a long way from the 5 points of articulation of the 1980's. The only figures that surpassed these were the 12-inch G.I. JOE'S OF THE 1960s/70s for articulations and accessories and I still have them also along with the 21st century military line that were 12 inches with superbly detailed accessories. Anyway, I'm glad we could talk.
@sacrificedplastic6 күн бұрын
@Jon, For sure, gotcha! The expectation with the Mafex figures is that it in some ways they should be better and come with more because they’re at least 2/3 times more expensive. Wow, that’s awesome! That does sound like a pretty impressive collection. They’ve for sure come a long way, especially in last 15/20 years. The 12 inch Joes and the 21st Century lines were ahead of my time. I did grow up with the very end of the 4 inch Joe line which I loved. There are some really good import lines making 1/12 military figures in that 12 inch Joe style which are really awesome. I have a couple of WW2 American soldiers and I was blown away with the accessories and soft goods. Same. Nice hearing from you. Happy to hear that your collection continues to grow. Please do share more of your perspective in the future, I love hearing from experienced collectors🫡🤙

You do understand that this Mafex figure is based on Captain America comic art of the 1970's Just like their Thor figure, all their figures are based on comic art of some era
@sacrificedplastic7 күн бұрын
@Jon Why are you asking me if I understand?
@JonShepard-x3d6 күн бұрын
@@sacrificedplastic Sorry if I offended you, it was not meant that way, I do not know how old you are but probably younger than me I was born in 1965 and still have my comic collection to this day, so I am familiar with artwork style in a figure when I see it. I was just trying to let you know where/when the figures style came from and the possible reason for Mafex's choices
@sacrificedplastic6 күн бұрын
@Jon, understood. Absolutely no offense taken. That’s awesome that you still have your comic collection. I wasn’t sure why you made that comment that’s why I wanted a bit more clarity. The comments I made in the video were loosely based with the understanding that all of the caps have on the “classic” suit and with the understanding that each manufacturer has taken inspiration from different sources where he’s appeared with the classic suit as well as with the understanding that each manufacturer has taken some artistic liberty in creating their figure. I don’t think I made that clear in the video so now I understand. Thank you for pointing that out 🙏 I believe I mostly tried to focus on answering some of the questions that I received about all three of the figures and also speak to my thoughts about them overall in their “classic” suit. 🫡👍

Bout to use the "sheild tossing hand" as salute hands. Just tear off the plastic. That sheild toss mechanism was poorly executed anyway

@Joe, for sure, that can work! I don’t have it in me right now to destroy the hand though. The prongs work well in certain applications, but you’re right, the prongs could’ve been better executed.
