“What’s going on down there Tony?” Had me crying!! 😂

I love this figure. It’s my favorite Iron Man by far, and maybe toy of the year for me. I’ll never use the proton cannon, so I dont even consider how difficult it is to utilize. This is also one of the only figures I own that I display with the unmasked head more often. The Tony head and neck is just perfection to me.

When I got mine in, I didn't have high expectations really. There was just buzz online about this being a bit underwhelming in some in-hand shots, and I really only got him because Thor and Cap are coming. But man... it surprised me. Love the gloss, love the shading and love how they nailed all the classic design elements, it's just fun. The old-school shoulder hinge just works so well for this design. My only gripes are the very limited up and down on the neck (because when you have him flying, he needs to arch his back a lot to see where he's going, and he may need a chiropractor soon) and, like you said, the cannon just... not being worth it, in terms of effort and how much it added to the cost. Plus, mine had this weird problem where the shading was... runny (?) on one leg. I don't really regret getting him, but not really one I'd recommend.

If only they were the price of Marvel Legends. This looks like a cheap figure for a premium price
@mosh20992 жыл бұрын
@@ComicCrossing it looks premium to me: plenty of accesories, great paint apps, different display options, articulation above average. Not cheap at all, imo.
@nhyar2 жыл бұрын
@@ComicCrossing Can't even use that excuse anymore tbh. Marvel Legends are as expensive as imports nowadays and they come with barely any accessories or paint.
@ComicCrossing2 жыл бұрын
@@nhyar dude come on. This retails at 90 without shipping or import fees if you are lucky and get it from an import site and a similar Iron Man will be like 30 at most. That isn't import pricing. This Iron Man is going for nearly $150 on BBTS. You can still get a whole Marvel Legends wave for that price
@nhyar2 жыл бұрын
@@ComicCrossing Yeah, this figure is expensive, I'm not denying that. I was speaking in a general way. Marvel Legends nowadays cost as much as, let's say, a basic S.H. Figuarts, and those come with more. Take the Iron Spider as an example. That thing was sold as a deluxe figure for like $35 with just a pair of extra hands and bad quality waldoes. You can get a Goku or the new Naruto figure for that same price and they come with a lot of stuff.

That is a nice Iron Man and love the poses it can get into. Very old school feel. I was looking at the proton cannon and it just makes me think of an old issue of the Hulk when they had the Smart Hulk with the big guns. If we get a comic version of the smart bulk with the brown pants and black tank top you could use that for his gun.

Small correction: The yellow parts weren't a liquid metal, they were a mesh with scales so diminute they looked like a smooth surface. As for the faceplate with the nose indentation, it's based on Alex Ross' interpretation of the classic faceplate. Even though he doesn't give the face a full-blown nose like the infamous Nose Armor, he does make it stick out a bit. And as for the Proton Cannon, it does indeed not belong to this armor.

Man this figure is tempting! I'm a sucker for a classic Iron-man. Makes me think of a modern update to the toybiz marvel legends series 1 Ironman. Loved that figure. Was my very first marvel legend when they first came out. The price is a real turn off though. The proton cannon was unnecessary. Maybe if it came with extra headsculpts and accessories to make the ultimate classic iron-man deluxe, I'd be all in. Also anybody else hear that faint creepy children's laugh at 4:18?

I didn’t want this figure originally but as the release date started to get closer and closer, I caved in to FOMO and bought him. Do not regret it at all. I’ve had him for a while now and i’m almost always picking him up and playing with him. Such a good figure. The ML offerings are solid for the price, but this is my first and 100% the only figure of classic Iron Man that I’ll ever need. Can’t wait for Thor and Cap. I wish the Proton Cannon wasn’t included since it has zero correlation to this armor and it artificially increased the price overall a shit ton. It’s whatever though, I gave the cannon to my Marvel Legends Modular Iron Man. Hopefully it’s a sign that Mafex is planning to make a Modular Armor figure down the line.

I'm not a huge Marvel collector but I'm good with the classic comic version we got with Marvel Legends, although sometimes when I try to leave him in a cool pose he falls randomly and knocks other figures down, but hey, that's just life as a toy collector

I like this Mafex Iron Man. I would like a version where you can plug in power cords into his chest, like what Tony Stark had to do back in the 1960's. The faceplate with a sculpted nose is from the 1970's, when Marvel Comics had all artists draw Iron Man that way. Look at the George Perez Avengers issues from the 1970's for an example of the Iron Man nose.
@foldabotZ2 жыл бұрын
It kinda made sense. Since his eyes are so close to the eyes slits, his nose is probably squished painfully against the face plate.

Part of me would like to see figures in non-comic book "realistic" colors but even then I'm not sure that would entice me.

It's a quality figure for sure, however it's very obvious a person could not naturally fit inside this suit. The arm connection to the torso and pectoral/ab ratio is really off.
@foldabotZ2 жыл бұрын
Well, that’s because the Classic armor was not designed like the modern armors. While it was called an “armor” it was really treated like the costumes of every other superhero(tights) evident by his musculature. The gold parts were in fact thin flexible metal that became rigid when an electric current ran through it. With the exception of the chest plate, every other part of the armor could be stored in a special suit case(but looks like a normal one)

the fact that the crunch isn't good doesn't mean you have to justify it, i saw companies doing better crunches with more details. it doesn't really take much to do it better, especially when it comes to ULTRA PRICEY IMPORT FIGURES THAT SHOULD BE THE APEX OF WHAT ARTICULATIONS AND PLASTIC CAN DO look at Vtoys body for example, amazing articulations on a similar built bod, they could have done just the same. Justify less my friend, be more harsh.
