Hentai Commander there’s not wrong with 30 FPS in a game like this. It’s not a first person shooter. I only really care that a frame rate is solid and doesn’t fluctuate. That’s when it gets distracting any annoying for me. Yes 60 is great, but if it’s 30 and stable? Fine by me.

You can run a comparison vs the original scenes, and see some of the characters changing their focus point. Often looking at nothing at the side, vs straight into the character they talk to. As I've noticed that a fair few times on PC so far. Tho, a minor issue in terms of gameplay luckily.

It's extremely unpolished! The amount of pop in I experienced is insane. Trees and even cars pop in at a close distance. Also the definitive edition patch somehow DOWNGRADED Mafia III on Xbox one X. It looks like 1080p or maybe even lower? I seriously don't know what happened.

Its been nice to go through this underrated game again and there's some decent visual improvements with this, but this remaster is just a complete disaster, there's so many areas of the game that are untouched which have aged terribly, there's bugged animation in cutscenes, cloth physics are bugged and there's frame drops. I even had stutter late into the games story. It's just a lazy cash grab and this game deserved better.

I primarily use headphones and whenever you’re in a cut scene, it only plays through the left-hand speaker, not both; yet throughout the rest of the game it plays through both. It seems that the game struggles with different hardware. I had zero performance issues + the game performs better on my machine that thew original with Physx enabled. PhysX is replaced with Apex in this release but right now you have to force it through the ini file for it to work correctly.

Yeah, I got an update for mine and the resolution is noticeably lower with very little anti-aliasing to combat the drop. I think they just accidentally disabled the enhancements...which is a mistake that I didn't think was possible...

Thought you were going to cover the strange eye animations, lack of physx on some platforms, the fact there is no 60fps mode (the biggest problem for me) on Pro / X, removal of some really nice colour grading with the contrast being turned up which removes details in the dark, etc.

The improvements though are really noticeable: character models are much better, textures are in high-res and the light reflects differently on different materials, making the cars look gorgeous.

For real? Only from left? That's not right, I do audio work and even if the source was mono I could upmix to a convincing fake stereo in minutes. You could batch process an infinite amount of audio, there's a lot of ways to do it. That just sounds like someone who didnt have a clue was left to do it, I'm not being hyperbolic either, sounds like the guys who fixes the drinks machine was left to do the audio. It sounds like they've loaded a mono sample into a stereo track, because if it didn't have enough channels it would default to left stereo and an empty right channel.

Something interesting I discovered about this game when I was younger is that there are some areas on the Xbox 360 version where the framerate runs at 60fps. In the mission where you break into an office (can't quite remember now, you have to break into a safe to steal bonds), in the alleyway where you have to hop a fence the framerate strangely jumps from 30 to 60fps. My guess is it uses a half v-sync feature which caps at 30fps until it can run well enough to hit 60, then the cap changes.

Audio in Cut scenes have been perfectly fine for me with my pc and turtle beach headset plugged into the xbox one controller going to my pc i never experienced it on just one side its been perfect so its not everyone. I also use dolby atmos with tweaked settings so maybe thats why it works for me idk.

No issues on PC with my i5 2500k from 2011 and a 1060 6GB. Works with 60fps+ on 1440p, maxed out everything. No bugs, nothing missing.

I am playing it on my base PS4 and I am encountering tremendous issues. 1st of all frame rates are dipping below 20 a lot when driving arround. Secondly the dialogues of all the cutscenes are coming through the left channel only. Is anyone facing the same issues. These issues are ruining my experience.

While I don't have to suffer from poor performance on my PC, there is still the issue with the audio mix being screwed up especially for the in-engine cutscenes, with dialog only coming from the left and certain sounds bein played too loud. This really needs to be fixed since audio is a huge part why this game's atmosphere is so amazing.

I played it on PC (got it for free as I owned Mafia 2) and I must say that I was very pleased with it. I had no glitches(except some guys face) and the lighting improvements really made the game feel fresh. Could they do more? Of course, far more than this, but I had no expectations for the game and it took me by surprise

Who’s noticed the fact that they haven’t improved the sound in cut scenes, it’s is so fucking annoying. You missed the biggest issue for me at least, the broken cloth physx, apparently there are 3 options for clothing in this game. Static (original PS3), dynamic (every other version of the classic mafia II) and physx (PC only). Currently on PC its completely broken the physx version doesnt work at all while the dynamic is working only in DLCs. Its very distracting seeing long coat glued to my pants while walking around.

13:00 The tunnel's low performance is due to chromatic aberration effects created by many lamps which is locked to ON on the consoles. This will be a problem on new gen consoles as well, when many effects will be locked and lacking settings to adjust. On PC at least we can fine tune by going to .ini file.

I remember really enjoying this game when it was first released, was excited for this remaster but it's a big let down. Loads of glitches and frame rate's all over the place on Pro. 60 fps would be great but to not even be able to get a locked 30 fps on Pro or X really isnt great. Hope this gets sorted in a patch as the story's still really enjoyable.

You are wrong, double buffered vsync, doesn't cut the fps in half, it just goes to the next match refresh rate 60/30/20/15 Triple buffer doesn't cut the fps, it just shows the fps you are getting in the moment, but you get judder.

10:00 PS3 had more things removed, inc having the park use a flat 2d image as the grass and objects like trash put on the image, vs the fully rendered grass on 360. To be fair, it's the typical issue of a studio doing a PS3 game for the first time, and having no clue how to work all the cores and optimizing it right vs the PS3 lacking power. Resulting in arguably one of the worst 3rd party titles on PS3.

Michał D3T is still the problem though as they have a bad history and it seems to be their textures that are shit, causing streaming issues. Mafia II on PC with all DLC was only like 14gb and you could run it maxed out with a potato PC. Now the game is nearly 60GB and a PS4 Pro/Xbox X can’t even achieve a stable 30fps. So they clearly fucked something up. I think their textures are way too big in size for their quality. It’s not like we’re dealing with photogrammetry texture like Modern Warfare has. D3T probably gave Hanger 13 a bunch of unoptimized shit textures that are tanking the game performance. I’m on PS Pro and my game was freezing up for three to four seconds at a time on the Supermarket level in Joe’s Adventures DLC. So literally not even 1fps... less than one frame per second. That’s how bad this “Definitive Edition” is. It’s pathetic.
