Capoislamort100, the mob’s influence in boxing ended with the Frankie Carbo and Blinky Palermo era. They used to fix fights & controlled many fighters, including Welterweight champ Don Jordan. With the exposure that boxing has gotten thru TV it became impossible for fights to be fixed. The mob no longer has their paws to fix fights in boxing

If the story is true, the kid probably did make a run for it. But whether he ran or not, if this was a sanctioned hit it still would of been carried out. Which is why this plot to hit King was not serious at all. If the mob really wanted something to come of this, they would of hit someone that would make King scared. Without King there's nothing to move forward with. Sammy isn't serious, this is just bullshittin.

Don King was far from a sucker or a dummy, and he definitely wasn't a chump. He probably had hitters on deck. When you're a real gangster, your heart doesn't pump Kool-Aide. Getting killed is always a possibility, it's part of the game. Nobody wants to die, but it could happen. You know what you signed up for. You definitely gotta have balls. You can tell Don had that "Fuck 'em" mentality. Not too many people came between Mr. King and his money 💰

He is one of life’s takers who made this planet a worse place to live in. You think he would ever care about you. This is a ruthless psychopath who would kill you then go have dinner with his wife. @@davidleonard7439 you got a hard on for mafia,..... King was one of the few black men in power in the business world. That tells me he knew the "game" and how to survive. King was also a convicted murderer. He was no punk. He might have not challenged Gotti but he certainly had enough goons to make potential enemies think twice about getting after him and that includes Gotti. Contrary to what you think, gangsters want avoid big problems and lay low. Don King held his own.

@@hparas1 what do you consider "power" to be?? Money doesn't equate to power. Bumpy Johnson was a powerful AND connected black man, who learned his family structure from Joe Gallo, a mob boss who used to operate in Harlem. People feared AND respected him- thats power.
