It took the Maga era of the last 8 years for me to make a discovery. I'm 55, and for my entire life, I thought taking Jesus' name in vain meant saying his name like it is a swear word. That was what I was taught - we weren't allowed to do that or even the more generic Godd***. It finally dawned on me after watching Maga compare Trump to Jesus, lifting hands in prayer to him at his rallies, and saying he was sent by God to save us. All the while making these claims in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth? It hit me right between the eyes in an awakening, THAT is what taking Jesus' name in vain means. Matthew 7:15: Jesus warns his listeners to "beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves".

As a priest, Hebrew Scholar and a Jew, can tell you that 'Barabbas' does not mean 'insurrectionist' - bar-abbas was indeed an insurrectionist and murderer, but 'bar-abbas' is a play on words that the Lord often gives to us throughout the Scriptures. 'BAR' in Hebrew means 'son', ' ABBA' as we know means 'father'. So the real 'Bar-Abba' = Son of Father, the Lord Jesus, HaMashiach was being traded for the false 'bar-abbas' = son of father. One Son is True, the other son is false. This is the point being told and shown to us. As with all things of the enemy which tries to duplicate everything of the Living G-d, is that there is an 's' on the fake 'son of father' 'Barabba's'. The enemy never attempts to duplicate anything verbaitim because the enemy is a liar and the father of lies, 'bar-abbas' is satan's son, whereby 'Bar-Abba' is the Son of G-d, this is what is being shown us, the world would rather have that which is fake and false, than that which Real and True. Hope this helps anyone. Shalom and blessings. 🇬🇧

Also of note are the different words that different translators chose to describe Barabbas: some translators chose the word "notorious" where other translators chose the word "notable"; some translators chose the words "bandit" & "robber" where other translators chose the words "insurrectionist" & "revolutionary". It's not really surprising that the translators for the King James Protestant-version & the Catholic-version chose to refer to Barabbas as a "bandit" & "robber" instead of referring to him as an "insurrectionist" & "revolutionary". It furthers the goals of the oppressors -- such as the oppressors in the Protestant & Catholic churches -- to call an anti-oppressor a "bandit" or "robber" rather than calling the anti-oppressor an "insurrectionist" or "revolutionary" who was fighting against the oppressors. The people in charge of the King James and Catholic Bibles, in the present-day, could certainly CHOOSE to make changes to their printed versions of their Bibles in the future, but they choose not to. They willingly choose to mislead God's children by watering-down the rhetoric in an effort to pacify God's more-fortunate children, which makes them less-likely to stand up for God's least-fortunate children who are victims of oppression. This kind of propagandist-translation, by the historically habitual-oppressors in the King James & Catholic churches, is why I'll NEVER set foot in a church that uses the King James or Catholic versions of The Bible. Those versions were translated by, and for the benefit of, the oppressors who commissioned and paid for the translations. Thank you for your written-offering regarding the etymology of "Barabbas" -- it gives me something to research & investigate. But, considering you're a "priest," don't be surprised when people take you with a grain of salt before they really research & investigate what you've offered in writing, here.

The leader of this movement falsified truth and his behavior also misaligned with true spiritual values, yet people rationalize these bad behaviors with seemingly good reasons. The masses then embraced this movement. 4. The masses now believe that this movement is good and true such that it cannot be challenged anymore. 5. Since this movement cannot be challenged anymore, it becomes justifiable to do anything under this movement. 6. This popular movement becomes the front to commit evil acts. 7. This. But for ideological reasons these are considered off the table. So women are left to bear the full, often impossible burden. As long as they are unwilling to address the root causes, I will support abortion access. ' They put heavy burdens on others that they themselves are unwilling to bear' (Also criminalising abortion ends access to procedures used for non-abortion reasons, like saving a woman in sepsis, endometriosis, removing a placenta after birth, all of which cause death and suffering and essentially criminalise having female reproductive organs)

They wrongly compare him to Cyrus of old, who was not only a great leader, but allowed the people of the nations he ruled to continue to observe their own religions without interference as long as those religions were peaceful. Something hit me years ago, God doesn't force himself into people's lives nor does He force them to do what is righteous. Why do we Christians think we have the right to do something God refuses to do?
@TrishaFreitagАй бұрын
It started in the 40s and 50s with the Prosperity Gospel and the Word of Faith movements. This was followed by the (im)moral majority, the "New Apostolic Reformation," during which they engaged in teaching US nationalism and superiority, claiming God favors the US over all other nations, and then Dominionism stepped in during the mid-to-late 90s. The concept behind Dominionism is exactly how it sounds....not governing with compassion, but DOMINATING. They completely believe they have the right to dictate how every single person here lives -- who they can be, who they can love, when and how they can show that love, what they can think, what they can say, what they can do, what they can believe, how they can identify, and how they can dress. Their ultimate goal is micromanagment of women and minorities in order to maintain the patriarchy and white male power. It violates EVERYTHING Jesus taught. It's not based in Scripture -- unless you look at the OT and the claims of those who said their god told them to slaughter entire people groups for the crime of living in another culture with another faith.

You think God wants us to live in anarchy with no laws? Interesting..
@rolturnАй бұрын
@lionsonthepath No. And I don't know how you would come to that conclusion based upon what I said other than you making an attempt to be rude. GOD outlines what He desires/requires of us very clearly in the Bible. As a young adult, your parents hopefully didn't follow you around enforcing their rules in every choice you made. Similarly, God has delivered His expectations to us and given us the room to grow in maturity. He didn't create us to be His robots. He gave us free will and choices. We all have the choice to do good or evil. That being said, people have to establish a social contract with agreed upon laws we can collectively live by. The moral standard of the country should define its laws and not a religion in particular because not everyone within a land has the same religious beliefs. This is the example the founders of our country laid out for us. We will no longer be The United States of America if we don't continue in this tradition.
@lionsonthepathАй бұрын
@@rolturn that’s absolutely wrong. No matter how much propaganda is pushed, Jefferson said we should be a Christian Nation, and Adams said our Republic would not survive if we weren’t a Christian nation. What’s funny is that neither of them were likely Christians. I agree we need a shared set of morals to live by. Who is that supposed to come from? Atheists or secularists? It’s absolutely ridiculous when (usually) Progressive Christians say Christians should not legislate morality. THAT IS WHAT LEGISLATION IS!! If Christians aren’t allowed to pick whichever candidate is more likely to advance Christian causes, and push for morality in government again, then we are doomed.
@rolturnАй бұрын
@lionsonthepath my primary issue with your point is that man's moral compass is compromised. We have a tendency of creating laws God didn't decree and calling them sin. An individualistic view by a founder doesn't change that they collectively chose purposefully to not decree us a Christian nation which they could have done without any issues and provide reasons why they made the choice. You are simply wrong in that statement. The truth of the matter is that one man's religion can easily become another man's slavery and bondage isn't something that Christ taught, in fact He taught the opposite. Interestingly enough those conversations typically had to do with women during his day. Imagine that.

The right to an abortion was not a Law. It was a Supreme Court case saying a Woman's body is her personal belonging until the fetus is big enough to survive outside of her body then the fetus has rights. There was no legislation at the time of that decision but there should have been. Now our bodies are not our own property.

What about the baby's body? Does it not have a right? You're speaking for two people once you're pregnant. If you get in an accident and need to be on life support in the hospital, would you be okay with us pulling the plug on you if we felt like it, too? Same thing. You can't survive on your own, right? God recognizes the unborn as human beings made in His image, still. And, He said that murder is wrong.

Mind your own sin, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, and leave the rest of us alone. By the way, you can't kill what isn't alive, and prior to the point of viability, a fetus cannot survive on its own. It is, in fact, a parasite, taking nutrients from the host body and using it to remove waste products while offering no benefits to the host. What gives it more rights than the woman forced to carry it regardless of the circumstances under which it was conceived? You lack humanity.

It was absolutely straightforward for the Jewish people to choose Barabbas. They wanted to make Jesus their king before, but Jesus refused to become their king on Earth. Why did they want Jesus to become king? To do miracles and throw the hated Romans out of the country and thus give them the victory they desired. Jesus did not want to do that. His kingdom was not of this world. So they chose the man who promised to deal with the Romans. As some might know, the Jews lost their country finally some years later, because Barabbas did not solve the problem. Nobody did.

The flipside of this though, the choosing of Barabbas back then had led to the sufferings, crucifixion and death and eventually resurrection of Jesus! without His death there woukd have been no resurrection! That said, as Christian believers we always look for a silver lining and keeping our hopes up and putting our trust in our Most Sovereign God, that this will turn out for good, ... might get worst for all of us before it gets better, but if it will shed light on where we have fallen short in our understanding.and bring us back to the very heart of our Christian faith...i.e. will open eyes and change hearts... then it is good. The sad truth is evident for the world to see. Americans voted as they did because they wanted someone who could get things the things they wanted done done. They weren’t looking for 'nice'-they wanted certain results and the actions required to achieve those results aren’t nice. When the outcome is what matters most, people choose the person they believe will get the job done, even if it means making unpleasant, immoral or even illegal decisions. In a way, Americans were looking for a 'hit man' to handle the challenges. Anyone who knows America knows this isn't the first time we chose Barabbas. Andrew Jackson ...

Galatians 5:1 states: “It was for freedom that Christ set us free.” God has given all humans the gift of free will, but he forces no one to choose what He teaches. Everyday, we have the right to make choices, but man, government, the law, and even the church has NO RIGHT to force anyone to choose to abort or not to abort. We will ALL face the consequences of our choices, right or wrong. But because God does not FORCE us to choose his way, how does man have the right to force people to choose the right way? Also, these so called Christian people DO NOT know Bible. What about discerning a man’s character? ( Proverbs 22:1) How do people vote only on one issue? I totally agree with your commentary! I wrote a commentary on this Barabbas thing last week. Thank you for your comments. In recent weeks, I had been reflecting on and researching the Bible about elections. I wanted to know what the LORD had to say about elections, if anything. The closest thing I could find about people making major choices was when Jesus was being physically and verbally abused by the Pharisees, the Sadducees, and the scribes. They presented him to Pontius Pilate, who was initially willing to free Jesus, but at the demands of the crowd, the Jewish leaders called for the release of Barabbas and for the execution of Jesus. It was a Jewish custom to release a prisoner during the Passover season, so the Jewish people, along with the Pharisees and sadducees insisted on Barabbas’ release. Oh, how familiar this scenario seems to what just happened in the 2024 election! It is also noteworthy to say that Barabbas was an insurrectionist, a murderer, and a thief. In those days, an insurrection against the Roman government would automatically result in the death penalty. It is also believed that, after the crucifixion, Barabbas committed other insurrections that eventually led to his death. Please note that I, in no way, am equating Kamala Harris with Jesus, but what I am saying is that clearly a 24 count felon was highly preferred over a highly qualified person who cared about the needs of the people. My conclusion is what Ecclesiastes 3 states, “There is nothing new under the sun.” Human beings are the only ones of God’s creation to whom he has given free will, and that free will can work for the good or the bad. It can actually lead to the destruction of a soul or even a country. The presidential election of 2024 was clearly a cry to free Barabbas! And it worked! Were you in the crowd calling for his release? Also, Donald trump and his followers are not pro life, at least, not the pro life that Jesus taught. Everyday, Jesus called out the Pharisees and sadducees for their lack of pro life. They cared not for the common people’s needs, and were quick to judge them without grace. They required them to follow strict rules of the law in their everyday living. Jesus’ idea of pro life is from the womb to the tomb. It is described in Isaiah 58, Isaiah 10, 1 John 3:17-19. “When you do these things, (feed the poor, visit those in prison, clothe the naked), you do it as unto me.” Where do we see these attitudes and actions in the likes of Donald trump? True pro life does not take my social security and Medicare (I paid into) from me. True pro life does not publicly call other politicians the “B” word or pal around with evil dictators who throw their citizens out of windows or poison them. True pro Life supports those un-aborted babies and their mothers after they are born. True pro Life does not rape, cheat, steal, abuse women, black people and other minorities. God is tired of all of these false doctrines and is now in the business of turning these people over to their reprobate minds. Although I am a black truly committed follower of Christ who feels the weight of Donald Trump’s injustices, I pity him and his supporters more than I do myself because the Great White Throne awaits each and everyone of them and the lake of fire will end up being their final destiny if they do not repent. Jesus, help us! 😢
