Video feedback! You didnt really explain why you chose the moveset for each game. It was just...this is the mage game. The gameplay is fun to watch but the beginning made it seem like you were going to provide actual commentary The series is a 10/10 must. In the future videos, are you able to describe moments where mixed sets are viable? You made it seem like you either chose left moveset or right moveset only.

Pikachu is my favorite Pokemon in a non-casual way across the games, in spite of his limitations. I always go mage build with Pika. I just have too much battlefield control when I go mage build vs the tentative spacing I have to do to use Volt Tackle and Electro Ball. The Eldegoss one is gonna be really short. If spragels figures out a way to innovate Leaf Tornado though, I will be impressed.

I think it would be cool to add some mid game commentary explaining reasoning or a fight break down from the match before you show the game would be a cool touch and help with the "why" behind the moves.

Yeah this kind of video would be great. I've seen several of your videos where one of the stream commenters asks why you picked a moveset and your response was "because of the enemy comp". It might seem obvious if you're skilled with a mon, but breaking it down really helps learn how to play a new mon

My usual question when deciding on a moveset is: How much mobility/dive does the enemy team have? No dive means you can go full damage (i.e. mage Pika) while some dive means you might want to prioritize your best CC/mobility moves (i.e. lockdown Pika). Volt Tackle/Electro Ball is all-around good but especially strong against Speedsters. I feel like Thunderbolt/Thunder is the more situational moveset. If the enemy has a lot of mobility it's hard to hit your Thunderbolt CC as well as get full damage out of Thunder. Though a lot of the time you have to decide before the match starts because different movesets sometimes call for different item builds anyway.

My thought has always been volt tackle for when there is squishy speedsters or melee characters that cannot one shot you (like talon, leafeon, buzzyboi, that sort of thing) and thunderbolt for when it is a much tankier comp that you tackling into will likely get you KO'd easier (like tree, slowbro, clef, scizor). Thunder vs ball always was a "how hard is it to hit the enemy" sort of question. I never will run volt/thunder, but bolt ball if I want distance with hard to hit enemies, bolt/thunder if it is a death ball I want to stay away from (mostly clef), and volt/ball if I want to be the damage carry for the team. Basically, I choose if it is my role to be the assassin volt/baller or if I am suppose to soften the enemies for the brawlers/true assassins to take over instead.

The number of times I've seen Sylveon players pick Mystic Fire instead of Hyper Voice when the opposing team has next to no Special Attack based Pokémon or we have lots of them on our team is too damn high. Would like to see more videos like this.

my theory is that every pokemon has a burst vs continous damage move & long range vs close range moves. often, the combo of moves fall into long range and burst vs close range and continous. I use mage pika continous damage and keeping close range at a distance. volt ball pika is when the enemis are long range and squishy.

Can you do Urshifu next? I've been playing water bear, but I think it is a little too easy to shut down when the enemy team has a lot of CC. In those moments it seems the red bear would be better.

Spragels i have the exact opposite philosophy. I pick the range build they want to get close to me so i can attack at a distance, and the eletro ball variant on ranged pokemkn so they cant get away from me haha

Mage Pikachu SLAPS. Volt tackle is insanely annoying and can win games, but mage Pikachu can 100k on the regular WITH curse. The biggest thing is that you need a good front line for mage Pikachu-- not unlike any other mage in the game. I actually like to play volt tackle Pika against attackers, as I play Pika more like a speedster. You can eliminate pretty much every attacker with an ult, volt tackle, and electroball combo.

Much like how you carefully pick a mon in draft depending on the meta, your team's current picks, and your opponents current picks, you carefully pick moves depending on those three same things. If I see two speedsters/divers, I will go volt tackle. If I see a lot of front line, I will go mage.

Genuine question, how often do you end up with an exp share holding tank and support(one of each or 2 of a pair) inside of your ranked games? I’m at master 1300 and it seems in my experience I see exp share only when I play the tank or support. Just curious if the player base ever becomes selfless enough to take a turn at tank, or just not brain dead when it comes to team comps

Most players dont like playing support in this bad matchmaking. You rely too much on someone else. If I run support i usually have exp share but most players dont take advantage of it. Some defenders are broken right now so I usually see defenders almost every game. But most of them dont run exp share.

When I'm laning there's nothing I hate more than seeing them hold an exp share. Get good at the game and get secures. I don't your help to level up and I don't want to see you level 10 at ray. Thank you.

Im a defender main myself and i do in fact use it. The thing is that for some defenders using items that provide not just more bulkiness in general but also a way to be more offensive and helpful in both attacking and team fights is often seen as very rewarding. A few examples are umbreon, greedent and slowbro himself who get benefits from stacking items inproving their offensive to a point they can get a ton of value even on their own against certain targets. umbreon gets a much better way to utilize its stun moves as they will be more demaging and effective as well as wish’s healing being really good to make it very offensive and suportive, Greedent gets ton of value from these items since his moves can deal a lot of damage especially a full belly belch which hits pretty hard and gets even better with weakness policy since greedent allready has berries to keep his hp up so an additional damage given during fights does make a diference and i suppose i dont need to explain slowbro’s situation. Some defenders do still give credit to exp share such as mamoswine which moves allready do decent damage and are mainly used to help allies with CC, same thing can be told for blastoise as hydro surf moveset is still more utilized and early game sprout sucks so having a strong ally is often necessary and more examples like crustle and lapras. so in short some defenders just get a lot more value from bringing defensive and offensive items paired together to be more useful in some scenerios but by the end of the day, the meta allways changes so who knows if this judgement may still be reasonable in the future or exp share strategies may be run more often.

This would only apply in Master Rank if you can see your opponent's pick. Ultra level or lower then its just a luck of the draw since different build would need different item set

Cast Thunder then use volt tackle to hold them in the thunder. IMO it’s the best build for pika.

Pikachu is my comfort pick. Love pika. However this first game seemed like you would want to run the OTHER build. Ttar wiggly scizor and armorogue all want to get in your face. Even thougn you wouldnt KNOW armor was going to take fire spin the other 3 would warrant the other build. You did really well with the mage build no doubt.

Volt Tackle into TTar is an actual death wish if the ttar and their team knows what they're doing imo. Armarouge as you said is a gamble And while Volt Tackle is good into Scizor, you can also easily camp it out with the mage build. If it was SCYTHER then yeah VT all the way. My rule of thumb is if there's an explosive speedster (Leafeon, Gengar)/multiple dive mons then i got VT, otherwise I just do mage cuz it's the build i'm most comfortable with and you can play to pika's range rather than going in. That said i might be skewed and biased cuz Mage is my main build and I will almost never go VT/Eball unless there is a heavy need for it. That and I don't play the mixed build of Tackle/Thunder (or the very odd Tbolt/Ball) either.

A good scizor is dead sentence on volt tackle pikachu. It locks you to land in range for payback. Weakness policy scizor will delete you instantly if he has his moves up
