Cool video, just few notices: 1) $.widget('mage.SwatchRenderer', $['mage']['SwatchRenderer']).... - just a note, it is not necessary to override the mage.SwatchRenderer widget, you can register it also as a new one with some custom name like 'custom.SomeWidget' (and return it as well) - I think it is better to extend the widget from originalWidget instead of $['mage']['SwatchRenderer']) - some other mixin could extend this widget already and could register it with a custom name, so some part of logic can be lost. 2) using var label = $(element).parent().find('.......').text() typeof label === 'string' will be always true
