Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) talks about saving the life of a sex trafficker. Maggie (Kelly McCreary) tells her how frustrated she is that Black girls are disproportionately victimized by sexual abuse in the first place and that Black Americans are disproportionately affected by the pandemic and that not enough is being done to help. Watch 'Grey's Anatomy' THURSDAY 10|9c on ABC.

There is a black girl, 10/11 years old, from Davenport Iowa who's been missing since July 2020. The story of the kidnapping and the spouting of facts about black girls getting taken between these two shows tonight had my mind drift towards her and how she's not been found yet. :( Her name is Breasia Terrell.

I love this show more than the world it self but I'm going to have to disagree. What they were talking about was to draw attention to blacks when really there isn't anything terribly interesting about them. We are all the same which is why all lives matter. We shouldn't be singling out certain races. When people make fun of blacks, they feel awful but when someone makes fun of a white, all of a sudden we don't have feelings. But we do... so singling people out is terrible and we shouldn't do it which is why I'm for ALM. Not BLM or any other LM. I believe that we are all equal and not one of us should be treated any differently because of there skin color. :)

So many people are like “well she shouldn’t have yelled at Amelia so she’s wrong”. Like what?? You’re using her frustration to invalidate her feelings? What about last episode when Amelia yelled at Link- does that make what she said wrong?? Should Amelia have vented to someone else? Do people not realize how hypocritical and gaslighting most of these comments are

You're missing the point in the whole entire scene you fragile snow bunny she didn't invalidate her feelings that's her own way to have her full undivided attention to the Forgotten part of the missing people and this country and from the way I see it maybe you should learn from Amelia without having your fragile little ego and pride in your feelings hurt pull your head out of your ass already

@@MrBlacktiger86 her “fragile little ego” isn’t hurt, if anything urs is the one that sounds hurt. And maybe before you start talking ab the “forgotten” ppl of America you do your research because all Maggie was trying to say was how she was infuriated that black ppl aren’t being seen or heard and that she’s upset bc it’s sooo easy for a person to take advantage of a young black girl and how it seems as tho nobody cares and how covid has affected that! and she’s right, if covid was killing as many white ppl as it has black ppl, wearing a mask wouldve been the law. also, i think it’s funny how by calling her and ppl her believe that everyone should b treated equally, snow bunnies bc it’s rlly not offensive at all and it’s kinda funny tbh🤣
@NicoleUntch

@@MrBlacktiger86 lol #1 I’m not a snow bunny- I’m Hispanic. And #2 I’m talking about how some people in these comments are using the fact that Maggie yelled at Amelia to say she’s wrong or say she’s overreacting. Amelia is right that the # of young people is concerning, but Maggie is also right to be concerned that many of them are black. She’s not mad at Amelia being concerned, she’s mad about how privileged some people like Amelia are that it doesn’t even cross their mind that black girls are taken more often and not searched for. I’m just saying there is a double standard because last episode Amelia yelled to Link about how to express their feelings and no one said anything, but Maggie yells to Amelia about her frustrations yet a lot of people are upset about the way she spoke to her.

I can be sat in a class of 26, not socially distanced or wearing masks, but I cant have my friend round my house within 2 metres of me. There have been so many cases in my school, 5 that I know off in the last week or so, but boris wont close the schools, when it is proven that cases have risen in teenagers across the country since august, when the schools reopened. They said once it's in the interest for students mental health, but (my school at least) they have never cared for our mental health. They had a "mental health drop down day" just sprung on us, and they weren't prepared for the fact it is a sensitive subject, and kids would get emotional, leaving their lessons. They then forced us to go back to lesson, despite being an emotional wreck, knowing how cruel teenagers can be when they see someone crying. Numeral students have been taken out of school by their parents due to the increase in cases, but the government seems to be ignoring this

Amelia is her sister. People tend to lash out like this in the presence of someone they feel safe and comfortable around because you can vent your emotions and say the things you need, knowing that that person will still love you and be there for you. Maggie reached a boiling point and it happened to come out at that moment. Probably because she felt like it was a safe space in which she could finally have that release. Is this about Amelia specifically? Is she blaming Amelia for anything? Should Amelia take it personally? No, of course not. Amelia's words triggered something in Maggie but it wasn't about Amelia. It's about people in general who often just do not get it. And not always maliciously or intentionally but they don't see, mostly because they can't. She wasn't yelling at Amelia.. she was yelling at the world, through Amelia. Amelia is absolutely within her rights to be disgusted and enraged by that scum but Maggie is equally right in pointing out that people often seem to be selective with that rage, cherry-picking when and where it lands. I understand Maggie's feeling. Why don't people have the same passion and intense outrage for other things that should warrant it too? Not just for the incident but the things that lead to the incident in the first place?

I do not understand the comments which accuse Maggie of yelling at Amelia. Maggie has a general frustration due to the racism she and many people have endured. It was nothing personal against Amelia. She expressed general frustration about a societal problem which is very real. Amelia got that. Some people commenting still do not get it. Plus with everything that has happened in 2020 the frustration just keeps piling up. I am white. I know I am privileged. 2020 has been an eye-opener to me. Violence against women is very real and something hitting close to home and affecting me... While it is even worse for women or color because they are more likely to be affected and treated like shit by many parts of our society. The frustration is justified and real. And expressing it is healthy and necessary. Women need to talk about these things and address them. This is what happens in this scene and why it is amazing and a wake-up call.

For 20 minutes they questioned her completely naked. She was yelling at them and they told her to calm down. That level of inhumanity is the problem. They have women in their lives but because she is black or poor she doesn’t deserve the same dignity of their love ones. What is worse is that they will not pay for this. What Maggie said here was needed to be said and I'm so glad that Grey's is using their platform to amplify that statement. This is way too big of an issue to be ignored or downplayed by the media and needs to be brought to people's attention. Well done, Grey's for making sure these kinds of issues don't go unnoticed or unaddressed. The only tiny issue I have with this scene is that she ranted to Amelia. This is the second time Maggie has called out systemic racism to her, even though Amelia did nothing more than be around her, just existing. It almost felt like she was blaming Amelia for being disgusted by the sex trafficker, as if Amelia should be ashamed of herself for not seeing the bigger picture and not being more outraged over that. I understand her frustration, but it felt like Maggie used the fact that Amelia is her sister of sorts, to unload her anger on her. I only saw this clip, so I don't know if they talk about this scene again, but Maggie's anger, though totally understandable and justified, felt a little... misplaced

I get what you're saying but sometimes the ignorance and micro aggressions hit harder when its friends and family. So, Amelia isn't the bad guy but her comment was the straw that broke the camel's back. Because she would be saying that no matter the race of the girls that were kidnapped. No shade, but Meredith and Amelia are privileged white women. I imagine that, despite their best efforts, there are moments when Maggie is feeling a disconnect because there's a whole side of her that she can't really share with them.
@NicoleUntch

I agree, but also who is she suppose to say these things to? Like she said this has no face, there’s no one person or people who this is against. She’s not angry at Amelia she’s just relaying her frustration to someone who doesn’t get it- not against her but for what Amelia stands for. A white woman who doesn’t get it- not because she is racists- but because it’s not her experience

@Vera Basley I agree! And I get what @Josie Cremona is saying too. Idk if maybe because I haven't seen the whole episode yet that theres a comment she made that would add more color to the situation or it was like just her venting about the situation was considered a trigger to Maggie. I agree...be pissed off regardless of race but in this situation Amelia was just pissed off...is that so bad? There is an overarching problem that needs to get fixed but for a moment could Amelia just vent about how she had to save some butt wipe's life even though he didn't deserve it?

I can only think of 2 other time Maggie went in on these topic with Amelia and it because Amelia was the one to bring up the topic in a way. 1st when Maggie Amelia Meredith and Alex was talking after Riggs join and they and they talk about they had another guy they had to trained and how patient would talk to the male doctors and all the other ways it was harder for the female doctors and Maggie mention she also has the other thing that make it harder and IT WAS AMELIA THAT ASK was that even a thing at this hospital and Maggie ask to ask Bailey or Stephanie how much harder it is for them. 2nd time and I think it was in the same episode when Amelia was worried she might had been racist and ask Maggie that was the check your white privileged moment All of these moment happen because Amelia ask these question and had moment of not understanding these issue fully. So many people are not going to understand what Maggie is saying! It literally happened during the George Floyd protests where people refused to say BLM and called them thugs and rioters who were overreacting, yet they shared human trafficking posts and yelled and screamed about why people weren’t protesting to “save the children” and tried to overshadow the BLM movement. Human trafficking is a huge issue that needs attention, but so many people used it to devalue to BLM movement while ignoring that over 70% of the children and women involved are BLACK. Why? Because of what Maggie said- black girls are over sexualized in the media, guilty until proven innocent, come from poorer backgrounds. No one cares about them. No one cares about COVID because it’s not their community that is dying- it’s the minority communities. You have someone like Amelia who hasn’t done anything wrong, but she plays into the system of being blind of the adversity people have just because of the color of their skin. They touched on this last episode with Owen- he missed a diagnosis because he treated the Asian man with the normal standard of care. Like Bailey said- you can’t treat everyone equal because people aren’t equal.

Like white men are killed by cops far more or black people are mostly killed by other black people. Trust me I have serious issues with my own race, and how the Spanish community have a ugly way of covering up sexual assault because they don’t wanna Involve cops. I could go on and on .
